This role will be based in Mountain View, CA.
We are seeking a Staff Media Systems Engineer to join the LinkedIn Studio Engineering team. The Studio Engineering pillar helps design and run our global Live Production platform. This role will help run and scale the growing 7+ studio sites and broadcast venues at LinkedIn. The broadcast platform serves large live events and productions for both internal and external customers. The role will partner closely with the LinkedIn Media Production, LinkedIn Editorial, and LinkedIn Learning teams to develop workflows and rightsize technical offerings based on the content needs of the businesses.
Platform Delivery:
The Staff Media Systems Engineer is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of LinkedIn Studio Broadcast standards across 7+ studios. They are the subject matter expert for the operations of the broadcast platform, responsible for supporting live operators, producers, and addressing platform escalations. They are responsible for communicating and maintaining changes as well as ensuring alignment with the Studio in the Cloud strategic direction. They are accountable to drive economies of scale in service delivery.
Media Workflows:
Responsible for matching customer deliverables with the broadcast platform offerings to deliver content globally.
Studio Builds:
Responsible for delivering and improving studio and venue builds for LinkedIn media teams.
Responsibilities:
• Develop global media workflows (Live and Studio Recording)
• The escalation point for system and technical event issues
• Maintain and operate the broadcast infrastructure
• Participate in pre-production meetings to intake tech requirements for the various P0 Events
• Collaborate with the team’s creatives to configure production systems which achieve creative and content visions
• Work with the Ops team to develop efficient live video workflows, encoding procedures and streaming protocols.
• Collaborate with the LinkedIn network operations team on network requirements which support our systems.
• Direct support of live productions, including off-site productions (travel may be required)
-25% Travel Time Domestic + International, this includes weekend events
Basic Qualifications:
• BA/BS Degree in related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• 8+ years of experience in AV and Broadcast systems engineering
• 8+ years of experience in Live audio and video delivery
• 1+ year(s) of experience with setup and configuring Production systems for productions
• 1+ year(s) of experience with configuring and operating production technology hardware and software
• 1+ year(s) of experience with managing and troubleshooting production tech for remote events, studio shoots and company production spaces
• 1+ year(s) of experience with IT networking, CLI configuration of Ports, VLAN, Routing, ACL, QoS
• 1+ year(s) of experience with Network IP protocols including JPEG-XS, JPEG-2000, H264/5, RTMPS, RIST, SRT, NDI
• 1+ year(s) of operational experience with cloud based storage solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
• Service management-minded, translates complex technical needs to customer outcomes
• Ability to communicate with end users, business owners, developers, systems engineers and various levels of management including executives
• Maintain system as-built, workflow and general documentation
• Gather data and create and measure effectiveness of the platform
• Ability to consolidate data to provide easily understandable deliverables
• Cloud based broadcast infrastructure - JSON, XML scripting a plus
• Experience with emerging IP media technologies, SMPTE 2110, AES-67, Dante, NDI

The pay range for this role is $127,000 to $207,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
