The Oncology Program Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of oncology-related programs and services. This role ensures compliance with healthcare regulations, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, and enhances patient care quality. The manager works closely with physicians, nurses, administrators, and other healthcare professionals to improve oncology services, optimize operational efficiency, and enhance patient outcomes.
Job Purpose
+ An Oncology Program Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating oncology programs within a healthcare organization, ensuring efficient and high-quality cancer care services.
+ The Program Manager works closely with physicians, nurses, administrators, and other healthcare professionals to improve oncology services, optimize operational efficiency, and enhance patient outcomes.
+ Supports the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of Methodist Health System.
Job Requirements:
Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree in nursing Master’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field preferred.
Licenses and/or Certifications:
+ Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) preferred, required within one year of hire
+ Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) preferred, required within one year of eligibility to test for certification
Work Experience:
+ 3-5 years of experience in oncology. Oncology program experience preferred
+ Experience in quality improvement, data analysis, and regulatory compliance preferred.
Related Work Experience and Other Skills:
+ Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
+ Knowledge of oncology treatment protocols, healthcare regulations, and accreditation processes.
+ Ability to analyze data, manage projects, and drive process improvements.
+ Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and healthcare technology.
Job Roles:
Program Development & Management:
+ Develop, implement, and manage oncology programs, ensuring alignment with the organizational goals.
+ Coordinate cancer treatment programs, screening initiatives, and patient support services.
+ Ensure compliance with accreditation bodies such as the Commission on Cancer (CoC) or the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC).
Operations & Quality Improvement:
+ Monitor program performance and implement quality improvement initiatives.
+ Establish protocols and workflows to enhance efficiency and patient care delivery.
+ Track patient outcomes and use data analytics to improve oncology services.
+ Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation:
+ Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.
+ Ensure adherence to guidelines from organizations such as the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN).
+ Prepare and oversee audits, reporting, and accreditation requirements.
Financial & Resource Management:
+ Develop budgets and manage financial aspects of oncology programs.
+ Identify funding opportunities, grants, and partnerships to support program growth.
+ Optimize resource utilization, including staffing, technology, and facilities.
Patient & Community Engagement:
+ Develop patient education programs and support services.
+ Collaborate with community organizations to promote cancer awareness and screening programs.
+ Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, and support staff to enhance the patient experience.
Leadership & Team Collaboration:
+ Lead and support interdisciplinary teams, including oncologists, nurses, social workers, and administrators.
+ Provide staff training and development opportunities.
+ Foster collaboration between departments to enhance integrated cancer care.
