The Division of Pediatric Neurology, Department of Pediatrics, University of Utah School of Medicine is seeking a Pediatric Neurologist with special expertise or subspecialty training in Neuromuscular diseases to join a thriving academic/clinical team. The physician will provide subspecialty patient care in inpatient and outpatient pediatric neurology settings with clinical duties comprising up to 80% of the individual’s time commitment. The total clinical commitment will depend on the individual’s career goals and funding potential of non-clinical (clinical/translational research and educational) activities.

The successful candidate should have interests or expertise in clinical research and will be an active participant in the current and future clinical trials in pediatric neuromuscular disease. Participation and/or leadership in translational or basic research is encouraged and numerous opportunities for collaboration exist. Clinical activities will take place primarily at Primary Children’s Hospitals and the University of Utah Clinical Neurosciences Center, as well as other nearby locations. Opportunities for telehealth and outreach clinics exist.

This collegial and growing Division maintains specialty interests in a variety of pediatric and developmental neurological conditions including epilepsy, neurogenetic and neuromuscular diseases, stroke and vascular disease, movement disorders, and functional neuroimaging and basic neuroscience research. Major programs in precision medicine and gene therapy also exist.

Qualified candidates must be Board Qualified/Board Certified in Neurology with Specialization in Child Neurology, and must have subspecialty training or experience in Pediatric Neuromuscular Diseases. Expertise in electrodiagnosis ( EMG / NCV ) is preferred. The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure track at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
