    The role** **you** **’ll** **contribute** **:

    The primary responsibility of the Certified Occupational Therapist is to integrate the elements of patient management in a manner designed to maximize outcomes of the treatment plan established by the Occupational Therapist. The Occupational Therapy Assistant’s scope of work includes the prevention, remediation, and rehabilitation of patients who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities or changes in physical function, psychosocial abilities, activities of daily living and health status resulting from injury, diseases or other causes. Occupational therapy intervention is the purposeful and skilled interaction of the Occupational Therapy Assistant with the patient and, when appropriate, with other individuals involved in patient care, utilizing therapeutic exercise, psychosocial, sensorimotor and perceptual motor skills and other procedures to produce changes in the condition consistent with the diagnosis and prognosis. They interact and practice in collaboration with a variety of both healthcare and non-healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, family members, government agencies and third-party payers.

    The value** **you’ll** **bring to the team:

    + Provides skilled therapy intervention based on the occupational therapist’s plan of care in accordance with state practice act, insurance guidelines/requirements, and accreditation agency requirements. May provide the following:Therapeutic exercises to develop strength and endurance, range of motion and flexibility.Therapeutic activity to improve Activities of Daily Living, use of adaptive equipment and adaptation of physical environment

    + Modalities including fluid therapy and hot/cold packs, ultrasound and electrical stimulation if certified.

    + Demonstrates competency in all procedures within scope of practice, as appropriate to the age of the patient served, and maintains a knowledge of growth and development with an understanding of the range of treatment by diagnosis needed by these patients:Neonate (acute), Child (outpatient), Adolescent (outpatient), Adult and / or Geriatric.

    + Documents in accordance with insurance guidelines/requirements and acceptable practice act standards and posts charges accordingly.

    The** **expertise** **and** **e** **xperiences** **you’ll** **need to succeed** **:

    **Minimum qualifications** :

    + Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant

    + Current Florida COTA license required

    + Must retain a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance, as driving between facilities is a requirement of this position.

    + American Heart Association BLS
