    Manufacturing Engineers develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying products and manufacturing methods. They analyze product specifications to determine appropriate designs and processes that support these customer requirements. You would apply your skills to develop, test, modify, and create solutions through a collaborative effort with various teams.

     

    The Manufacturing Engineering Area Lead supports and develops other Manufacturing Engineers through project planning, task execution, training, mentoring, and providing oversight, and coverage. The Manufacturing Engineering Area Lead leads a team of five to ten Manufacturing Engineers fostering their careers, helping to set and plan priorities, and providing the operations and execution support for those priorities to ensure that our factories, programs and products are successful.

     

    What You Will Do

     

    Leading the design, control, and improvement of the manufacturing process through collaboration within a multi-disciplined team

     

    Leading, coaching, mentoring, and training of Manufacturing Engineers within factory area

     

    Participation in functional projects to improve command media, back office processes, process control board, and items that impact the efficiency of support staff

     

    Delegated Section Manager responsibilities including time cards, authority for team wide activities and decisions, support of performance and development activities, budgetary review, root cause corrective action output reviews, and staffing planning

     

    Developing Manufacturing Data Packages (MDPs) including assembly instructions, workflow/routing, labor standards, tool, and fixture designs

     

    Influencing and translating engineering design requirements into manufacturing processes

     

    Supporting manufacturing areas daily with process troubleshooting, incorporation of engineering changes into the MDP

     

    Supporting team members thru non-conforming material analysis with root cause and corrective action analysis as required

     

    Leading Continuous Improvement through process improvements to improve cycle time, reduce ergonomic risk to assemblers, automate, reduce costs (both direct and indirect) using Six Sigma principles and data driven decision making

     

    Supporting team members so that they can provide real-time technical support to manufacturers and fabricators; in-house as well as the supply base.

     

    Developing and implementing manufacturing process control and performance monitoring

     

    Tool/fixture development to drive ergonomics into processes

     

    Leading corrective action investigations to prevent recurrence

     

    Interacting with internal customers

     

    Qualifications You Must Have

     

    Typically requires a degree in Science,Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.

     

    The ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Access (ATF) clearance.

     

    The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

     

    Qualifications We Prefer

     

    Experience with interpretation of technical documentation

     

    Experience within a manufacturing environment

     

    Experience leading teams or projects

     

    Excellent organizational skills with fine attention to detail

     

    Knowledge and ability to apply CORE principles and techniques

     

    Technical drawing interpretation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

     

    Proficiency with CAD solid modeling tools (preference for CREO/ProE)

     

    Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude with the ability to work across disciplines

     

    Innovative mindset that drives continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and keeps pace with advances in technology

     

    Ability to work in a team environment

     

    Strong organization skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

     

    Proven written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills

     

    Current DoD security clearance (secret)

     

    Experience with automated tooling, machinery and programming

     

    Experience with Refurbishment and Repair requirements and processing of Government Furnished Material (GFM) or Equipment (GFE)

     

    Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PPT, Project, Word)

    Please consider the following role type definition as you apply for this role.

     

    Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

     

    The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

     

    RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

     

    Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

     

    Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

     

    This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
