Summary The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Housekeeping Aid Supervisor. The Housekeeping Aid Supervisor will function in Environmental Management Service. Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: Planning, organizing, scheduling, and evaluating the program of comprehensive environmental activities at this facility to achieve compliance with the laws and regulations governing this program. Planning of staff resources and the determination of supplies and equipment required for environmental care functions within his/her team. Supervising on-the-job training and assisting in informal instructions of employees in subject matters such as procedures, techniques, safety, equipment, and supply usage. Conducting appraisals of the performance of team personnel; making recommendations on appropriate reassignments, promotions, and performance awards; counseling employees concerning attendance issues and work performance; addressing complaints and/or grievances; and initiating or recommending disciplinary action as necessary within delegated authority. Coordinates schedules of the various tours of duty to the overall requirements of the team. Conducting and/or supervising special task, projects, and studies as assigned and analyzing data to determine the most efficient operation. Work Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday 10 hours, 4 days a week tour to include nights and holidays. Compressed/Flexible Schedule: Compressed tour. Position Description Title/PD#: Housekeeping Aid Supervisor/PD41102O and PD41102A Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The position requires occasional lifting and moving objects weighing over 50 pounds (scrap and trash cans, crates, parts, etc.) Moderately heavy physical effort in mopping or scraping sticky or heavy liquids from floors may be required. Use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (wall washers, industrial-type buffers) is required, but not on a continual basis. Work is normally performed indoors with adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Some work may be performed outdoors where there may be exposed to varying degrees of heat and cold as well as inclement weather. PPE may be required in some circumstance as there is possible exposure to healthcare waste or other safety risks. Care is required to avoid serious injuries (i.e., broken bones) when working on ladders, or when using 30-100-pound power equipment or handling hazardous materials. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Education Additional Information Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
