    Primary Purpose

     

    The Work, Asset & Supply Transformation program is a multi-year program intended to transform Exelon’s Work, Asset and Supply business capabilities. This role will be responsible for delivery of Work, Asset & Supply Products leading a matrixed team. The role will collaborate closely with Work, Asset & Supply stakeholders and project team members to deliver business outcomes.

     

    Focus on the people management and development of a team of Experience Designers to enable digital and non-digital experiences for our customers and employees to drive valuable outcomes.

     

    This Design Manager will help us optimize our team’s productivity and operating process to enable end-to-end thinking, improve ways of working, and strategic growth in design maturity. The Design Manager will also ensure and evaluate our performance in supporting the organization with a measurable human-centered process, co-creation process, and advancement in our experience systems and accessibility.

     

    You are a proven strategic thinker who also loves to roll up your sleeves to find a better way to operate to get more value from the time spent. You are someone who will flourish within a large organization that requires relationship building and a learning mindset. You are seen as a role model for other designers through your diverse experiences within the industry and notable curiosity. You put your team’s needs, growth, and engagement first, always. You are highly adaptable, able to pivot with the needs of the organization, and work in partnership with Change Management.

     

    An online or PDF Design Portfolio is required. Visual examples of applied design process and strategies that tell a compelling story of skills, actions, and results.

    Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms (storm duty rotation). Travel to other Exelon locations will also be required.

     

    Note: This is a hybrid position (in-office with remote flexibility). Employees are required to be in office at least three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

     

    No relocation is available.

    Primary Duties

    + Lead and manage Experience Design staff and resources in accordance with IT Business Plan. For projects: Plan and manage scope, schedule, and budget for defined deliverables in accordance with IT project management standards. For operations/application maintenance: Plan and manage to defined service level agreements at agreed upon budgets. (25%)

    + Lead and manage Design projects in IT and associated vendor partners to deliver projects of medium to high complexity. (10%)

    + Operate utilizing standard processes as defined within the Management Model. Oversee process improvement efforts and ensure adoption of standard processes and procedures that deliver sustainable top quartile cost and performance levels. (15%)

    + Establish, maintain, and enhance relationships with business and IT partners. Communicate status to key stakeholders on a regular basis. (15%)

    + Maintain current business knowledge/acumen, including application of technology solutions to deliver business results. (10%)

    + Evaluate performance and provide coaching for Experience Design and related personnel. Participate in career development and succession planning processes. Promote diversity and foster teamwork, collaboration, and a learning organization. Provide input on development and retention processes for Experience Design employees. (10%)

    + Prepare and manage budget for area of responsibility. (5%)

    Job Scope

    + Total Staff Managed: 5 to 20

    + Utilize understanding of customer's business needs to determine requirements and help set direction.

    + Determine and helps others learn appropriate theories, practices and principles that relate to their skill set portfolio and related sciences and disciplines.

    + Make judicious decisions in familiar and new situations and contributes to strategic decisions.

    + Represent business client's perspective with IT team.

    + Dimensions: Span of control (generally 10), level of budget control, technical/business complexity, risk, criticality of assignment to business.

    + Budget Management specific to area of accountability.

    + Operate independently with little or no supervision.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline and typically 7-10 years' experience in User Experience Design, Digital Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

    + Appropriate technical skills:

    + Proven of Experience Design skills, as demonstrated through a portfolio of work:

    + Product Design

    + Service Design

    + User Research

    + Design Systems

    + Accessibility

    + Design Thinking & Facilitation

    + Effective Leadership

    + Coaching and Mentoring

    + Strong knowledge of business practices and processes in:

    + Working with Cross-Functional Teams on Digital/IT Projects

    + Technology Strategy

    + Vendor Management

    + Stakeholder Management

    + Agile or Scaled Agile Methodologies

    + Experience leading and managing IT projects or subteams and knowledge of IT project management.

    + Experience leading and managing technical personnel.

    + Strong judgment and excellent analytical ability.

    + Excellent communications skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of IT and business management and with vendors.

    + Experience managing budgets for functional area of responsibility.

    + In lieu of degree, 9-12 years of relevant experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + 3-5 years of supervisory experience.

    + WCAG Accessibility Certification

    + Experience with Design Ops

    + Agile Certification

    + Leadership Training or Certification

    + Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $122,400.00/Yr. – $168,300.00/Yr.
