    Job Description

    An Oil & Gas company in the Downtown, Houston area is looking to hire a Python Developer. This team within the Information Systems department is responsible for creating software solutions dedicated to Environmental and Economic Planning of O&G operations. End users of the applications vary across the organization, including field engineers and executives. This person will be responsible for developing multiple application projects using Python. He/She could be required to communicate with the end users to gather application requirements and/or enhance features. Additionally, they will be doing data analysis, identifying KPIs, and using data to help resolve business problems.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Design, develop, and maintain RESTful and asynchronous APIs using FastAPI.

     

    Work with relational and NoSQL databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, and others.

     

    Implement authentication, authorization, and security best practices.

     

    Optimize API performance and ensure scalability.

     

    Write unit and integration tests for robust code coverage.

     

    Collaborate with frontend developers, DevOps, and other team members.

     

    Work with Docker, Kubernetes.

     

    Debug and troubleshoot production issues.

     

    Follow best practices in software development, including code reviews and CI/CD.

     

    This position requires an onsite presence 5 days/week. Based on knowledge and years of experience, this position offers an hourly pay rate range of $50-65/hr.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    Strong Python programming skills with experience in FastAPI.

     

    Solid understanding of HTTP, RESTful APIs, and async programming.

     

    Experience with SQL & NoSQL databases and ORM tools like SQLAlchemy.

     

    Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes.

     

    Experience with Redis, Celery, RabbitMQ, or Kafka is a plus.

     

    Knowledge of unit testing, CI/CD pipelines, and version control (Git).

     

    Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns. Experience with GraphQL, WebSockets, or background tasks in FastAPI.

     

    Familiarity with microservices architecture.

     

    Exposure to DevOps practices and cloud-native development.

     

    Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in an agile environment. null
