JOB SUMMARY:
The Nurse Practitioner works with psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors to provide assessments, diagnoses and management of mental health issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1Coordinates, monitors and evaluates assigned clinical, psychiatric and other services as assigned.
2Treats, examines and renders care to patients with emotional disorders.
3Observes and monitors patient reactions to medications and procedures
4Passes client medications and trains other staff in passing medications and associated documentation.
5Provides verbal and written instruction of situations requiring emergency intervention.
6Acts as a member of an inter-disciplinary team to develop acute patient care plans, case management plans, and utilization reviews

8Monitor and evaluate patients and take corrective action if needed.
9Initiates plan of treatment and makes necessary revisions
10Provides preventative and rehabilitative psychiatric nursing procedures
11Initiates appropriate referrals to mental health agencies
12Supervises/evaluates patient's self-care abilities and care given by family/others
13Completes, compiles and/or maintains clinical records, statistical forms and follows established billing procedures
14Coordinates/communicates in-house services to maintain continuity of patient's care
15Initiates and/or participates in appropriate patient care conferences
16Maintains current and accurate patient records reflecting patient's condition, nursing needs, observations, actions taken, treatment and progress
17Participates in developing and maintaining expected standards of quality patient care
18Reports all suspected cases of child abuse and/or neglect in accordance with agency policy and state reporting laws
19Participates in departmental, agency and community meetings or activities and record reviews as required
20Assists with orientation and guidance of new staff members as required.
21Participates in agency's quality improvement initiatives though identification of outcome criteria
22Performs other duties as assigned
OTHER DUTIES:
+ Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training.
+ All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
+ Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
+ Other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing.
+ Licensure: Current RN license and CNP certification.

+ Problem Solving & Decision Making: Recognize problems and responds appropriately; gathers information and sorts through it to identify and address root cause issues; makes timely decisions.
+ Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate competence in utilizing Agency computer systems and software as required to perform essential job functions
+ Experience: Experience working with children and adolescents with emotional disorders or specific training in Mental Health/Psychiatry nursing.
