    Overview

     

    Element has an opportunity for an experienced **Lab Maintenance & Calibration Engineer** to join our team in Morgan Hill, CA. The Lab Maintenance & Calibration Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all test equipment within the EMC/RF lab is properly calibrated and maintained in accordance with internal standards and ISO17025 requirements. This role also involves organizing lab equipment, conducting system checks, supporting testing operations, and maintaining accurate documentation. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced with technical lab environments and equipment management.

    Responsibilities

    Calibration & Equipment Management

    + Track and maintain calibration records for all lab equipment

    + Coordinate equipment shipment for calibration and inspection upon return

    + Verify calibration certificates and labels for compliance with internal requirements and ISO17025 standard

    + Update calibration records in internal databases (e.g., Airtable, SharePoint)

    + Maintain calibration schedules and proactively track upcoming requirements

    Lab Maintenance & Organization

    + Perform routine chamber maintenance, including but not limited to antennas, masts, cables, positioners and turn-tables

    + Conduct system loss checks quarterly, or as needed, and update the database

    + Update and calculate measurement uncertainties for different frequency ranges and test setups

    + Maintain proper organization of test equipment, including but not limited to, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, callboxes, and antennas

    + Keep accurate inventory records of cables, connectors, adapters, filters, and other lab accessories

    + Regularly review and update the list of lab equipment needs and assist in procurement

    Testing & Verification Support

    + Validate and verify equipment performance post-calibration or as required

    + Update and maintain SOPs for equipment and chamber verifications

    + Plan, schedule, and execute NSA and sVSWR measurements

    + Assist with setting up new chambers or test setups

    + Conduct substitution and correlation tests as needed

    + Support and assist in accreditation audits (e.g., ISO17025, A2LA) by providing necessary documentation, equipment records, and compliance verification

    Additional Support in Other Labs

    + Coordinate with relevant personnel to ensure timely calibration of equipment and compliance with requirements

    + Support other lab locations (e.g. Maryland, Suwon) by performing NSA and sVSWR measurements and assisting with equipment organization

    + Maintain and update calibration schedules and equipment databases

    + Assist in troubleshooting technical issues related to test equipment

    Skills / Qualifications

    + Experience in calibration, lab maintenance, or a related technical field

    + Familiarity with ISO17025 standards and calibration procedures

    + Hands-on experience with RF/EMC testing equipment is a strong plus

    + Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail

    + Proficiency in tools such as Airtable, SharePoint, or other data management systems

    + Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively

    + Proactive problem-solving and technical troubleshooting capabilities

    + Ability to maintain quality and accuracy while multitasking in a fast-paced lab environment

    + Associate's degree/technical certification preferred or commensurate with experience
