Description

Our client is an well-established construction business with growing operations that is seeking a Senior Cost Analyst to join their expanding team in Arlington, Virginia. This role is integral to the construction accounting team, focusing on cost management, budgeting/forecasting, financial reporting, and collaboration with project executives. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in analyzing budgets and providing accurate projections to support decision-making and organizational success.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive reviews and updates of budgets and job status reports for multiple construction projects on a monthly basis.

• Deliver monthly profit projections and create dashboards to provide actionable insights for management.

• Facilitate job status meetings with stakeholders and project teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

• Provide guidance to entry-level cost engineers and other team members, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.

• Train office and field staff in the use of project management software, ensuring efficient system utilization.

• Prepare and compile various monthly financial reports for senior leadership and company executives.

• Analyze project costs to identify risks, opportunities for savings, and implement mitigation strategies.

• Assist in the preparation of new construction project proposals, providing detailed cost analysis and recommendations.

• Support project executives in managing subcontractor agreements, change orders, and cost reporting.

• Audit and reconcile project performance using specialized project management software to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Construction Management, or a related field.

• At least 5-7 years of experience, with a focus on construction cost management preferred.

• Strong proficiency in cost estimation, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control methodologies.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.

• Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and high-quality work.

• Ability to identify and address financial risks in construction projects to minimize exposure.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, along with familiarity with cost management software such as Procore or Timberline.

• Highly motivated individual with strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
