Description

We are looking for a highly skilled Estate Litigation Attorney to join our collegial, boutique law firm in New York City. The ideal candidate will have extensive litigation experience and a strong passion for probate and estate matters. This position offers an opportunity to work on complex legal cases in a supportive and collaborative environment that values work-life balance and career development. Responsibilities:

• Represent clients in estate and trust litigation matters, primarily in Surrogate's Court, including will contests, fiduciary misconduct, contested accountings, and turnover proceedings.

• Manage cases independently from inception to resolution, including court appearances, depositions, and trial preparation.

• Draft and argue motions, prepare legal briefs, and conduct legal research to support case strategies.

• Negotiate settlements effectively, demonstrating advanced negotiation skills and expertise.

• Collaborate with team members to develop case strategies and provide exceptional client service.

• Stay updated on legal developments in estate and probate law to ensure high-quality representation.

• Maintain meticulous attention to detail in case documentation and management.

• Use legal technology and case management software to organize and track case progress efficiently.

• Uphold the firm's values of compassion, integrity, and respect in all client and team interactions.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Must be barred in NY.

• A minimum of 8 years of litigation experience, with a strong preference for Surrogate's Court or estate litigation experience.

• Exceptional research, writing, and motion practice skills, including oral argument.

• Advanced drafting abilities and familiarity with discovery tools and deposition techniques.

• Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with a detail-oriented approach.

• Proficiency in legal technology, including case and document management software.

• Demonstrated professionalism, patience, and compassion in client and team interactions.
