    + Lawrence Public Schools Programs – Develop and coordinate education programs to serve USD 497. Work with USD 497 representatives to identify the most relevant artists to present to students annually broken down into four different age groups: K-2nd grade, 3rd to 5th grade, Middle School & High School. Coordinate calendar and seating charts for all school-only performances. Manage pre-performance video content, printed guides (if relevant) and distribution in conjunction with the Marketing Department. Schedule and hire teaching artists for 3rd Grade Theatre Arts Days while serving as primary contact. Facilitate educational interactions with the Kennedy Early Childhood Center. Serve as a primary contact for the Ovation! USD 497 Talent Show in conjunction with Executive Director regarding student recruitment, auditions and implementation. Serve as a primary contact in partnership for the annual One Dream MLK Celebration and College Fair. Manage any master class or workshop activity that may arise for USD 497. Manage display case contents in the lobby space of the Lied Center. Work with past IMPACT Award winners to identify a recipient annually. Maintain communication with Lied Center Ambassadors (one at each school) to advance performing arts education and opportunities.

    + University Programs – Develop and coordinate education programs to serve KU students and faculty. Identify and facilitate opportunities for guest performing artists to be incorporated as part of the curriculum for relevant academic schools and departments (ex. Honors Program, First-Year Seminars). Manage any master class or workshop activity that may arise for University students. Serve as the Lied Center’s primary contact on the KU Powwow & Indigenous Cultures Festival committee, managing relevant details leading up to and during the actual event(s). This activity includes serving as the primary contact with the Indigenous Arts Initiative committee in partnership with the Spencer Museum of Art and Department of Film & Media Studies.

    + Lied Across Kansas – Manage all aspects related to Lied Across Kansas tours, which currently visit eight arts underserved communities throughout the state of Kansas. Assist with the selection of artists, make advance visits to the communities, coordinate calendars with each town establishing a customized daily schedule, make all hotel and transportation arrangements and manage each tour on site while driving the designated vehicle. Assist in identifying potential communities to expand this program.

    + Grant & Fiscal Management – Develop and assume fiscal responsibility for the education and grant budgets. Research and apply for grants at the local, county, state, regional and national level in support of educational programs and projects. If applicable, work with KUCR to ensure grant administration and reporting is timely. Prepare and compile evaluation materials, statistics and end of year reports for educational activities. Serve as staff liaison to the Friends of the Lied Education Committee and develop and conduct activities as needed. Supervise any relevant student employees.

    Work Schedule:

    Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm. Flexibility will be required for evening and weekend events, as well as travel for Lied Across Kansas tours.

    Position Overview:

    This position reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for managing programs and projects that deepen audience engagement with the performing arts through education. Audiences include: pre-K, elementary, secondary and university students and local, regional and statewide communities of all ages; oversee grant application and management; serve as a liaison to the Friends of the Lied Board; supervise any relevant student employees.
