    Hiring for a Hardware Design Engineer in Pawcatuck!

    Job Description

    Join our team to design industrial control systems that support a leading plastic processing equipment manufacturer in fulfilling customer contracts. You will generate BOM/AutoCAD drawings and confirm specifications, including circuit components, temperatures, amp levels, and circuit breaker sizes.

    Responsibilities

    + Design industrial control systems, including the creation of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and bill of materials.

    + Attend job kickoff meetings, engineering review meetings, and customer meetings as needed.

    + Coordinate the review of mechanical and electrical designs to ensure they meet engineering specifications.

    + Collaborate with team members to complete projects and assignments.

    + Adhere to project schedules and ensure overall project success. Communicate project status to management.

    + Coordinate with controls engineers, including those from other divisions, to review existing or establish new standards.

    + Interact with customers as required.

    + Travel infrequently for customer visits and vendor meetings.

    + Maintain and promote the highest professional standards to ensure customer confidence and enhance credibility in the marketplace.

    + Conform to ISO 9000 quality system procedures and practices, adopting continuous improvement concepts.

    + Participate in the enhancement and growth of the ISO 9000 and EDR/EDS systems.

    + Perform other duties as assigned by the Controls and Electrical Engineering Manager.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in hardware design and electronics.

    + Knowledge of electrical engineering and industrial equipment.

    + Experience with AutoCAD and AutoCAD-E.

    + Familiarity with UL/National electrical codes, with the ability to calculate amps to volts or vice versa.

    + Self-starter and self-motivated individual.

    + Experience designing to UL508A and NFPA 79 codes.

    + Working knowledge of AC drive systems, including Yaskawa and Allen Bradley PowerFlex drives.

    + Familiarity with PLC-based control systems, including Rockwell and Siemens PLCs.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or a related 2-year degree required, with BSEE preferred.

    + Commensurate experience in industrial control system design may be considered in place of a degree.

    + Experience in a manufacturing setting, with strong preference in a capital equipment business.

    + Proficiency with the Office 365 suite of applications, with emphasis on Word, Excel, and interpersonal skills.

    + Strong technical aptitude and good analytical skills; organized and detail-oriented.

    + Effective communicator using written and verbal communication skills.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
