    Examples of Duties

     

    + Reports to the Assistant Director, Workforce Development Operations

    + Provides instruction for Culinary program as directed and uses effective teaching methods

    + Maintains up to date blackboard course shell that is ADA compliant; designs curriculum

    + Evaluates student performance and academic success; maintains class attendance, grade records and progress reports; assures that all necessary instructional equipment and supplies are available for scheduled classes; assures security measures regarding equipment and supplies are followed

    + Monitors students as to dress appearance and conduct in compliance with Academy of Culinary Arts policies; performs related duties as assigned.

    Typical Qualifications

    Graduate of an approved culinary school and/or a degree in education or current pursuit of a degree or equivalent industry experience. Five years of culinary experience in a position in a restaurant or hotel kitchen or equivalent. Culinary experience in hot food/cold food preparation, and/or baking and pastry. Experience in recipe development and costing. Prior teaching experience a plus. Strong computer skills with the ability to assist students. Ability to follow curriculum. Strong interpersonal skills and aptitude to work with people in diverse populations. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work with all levels of the organization, internal and external groups, including students, program team.

    Terms of Employment:

    Must be available to teach days, evenings and weekends at any Atlantic Cape location

     

    Paid sick leave in accordance with NJ Sick Leave Law

     

    Defined Contribution Retirement Program (DCRP) (https://www.nj.gov/treasury/pensions/pension-active-dcrp.shtml)

     

    Eligible part-time employees will be enrolled into the DCRP (Defined Contribution Retirement Plan) pension (https://www.nj.gov/treasury/pensions/pension-active-dcrp.shtml) . Employees contribute 5% of their base salary and the college contributes 3% of base salary. Investment options are managed through Prudential Retirement. Life insurance benefits through DCRP are payable to the beneficiary at 1.5X the member's salary.
