As a Qualcomm Mechanical Engineer, you will design, analyze, troubleshoot, and test electro-mechanical systems and packaging. Qualcomm Engineers collaborate across functions to provide design information and complete project deliverables.
The candidate will be working directly for Qualcomm as a mechanical engineer developing PCB-based electromechanical test and development compute and 6G platforms.
Responsibilities include:
+ Creating and releasing 3D CAD designs and documentation
+ Electromechanical enclosure design of consumer mobile devices, 6G infrastructure, IOT, and server test platforms.
+ Creating, sourcing, and sustaining mechanical assembly bill-of-materials.
+ Coordinating/sourcing prototype and production plastic, sheet metal, die-cast, and CNC machined mechanical assembly components including housings, heatsinks, antennas, fixtures, chassis, etc.
+ Coordinating with suppliers, sourcing, and manufacturing staff to facilitate initial prototype and production builds.
+ Communicate and collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary team members in various geographical regions.
+ Develop basic thermal and structural analyses models of mechanical assemblies.
+ Effectively communicate and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across various geographical regions.
+ Work onsite minimum 5 days/week in the Qualcomm office in San Diego, CA
+ Engineer will interface with internal staff and outside suppliers in the fast-paced execution of a wide variety of multi-disciplined design projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 1+ year of work experience with mechanical systems, equipment, analysis, packaging enclosures, or related work experience.
• 1+ year of work experience with design testing and/or prototyping.
• 1+ year of work experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., Creo).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assists in the designing, analyzing, and building of mechanical hardware for chipset development platforms and products.
• Utilizes engineering modeling, simulations, and analysis software tools to assist with design activities.
• Applies Mechanical Engineering knowledge to support the troubleshooting and testing of electro-mechanical systems and packaging.
• Conducts feasibility testing on new and modified designs.
• Receives requirements from other areas and ensures that designs meet the goals of the project.
• Interfaces with customers and manufacturing to assist in the development of platforms and source parts.
• Creates documentation for mechanical parts and assemblies.
Level of Responsibility:
• Works under supervision.
• Decision-making affects direct area of work and/or work group.
• Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey basic, routine factual information.
• Works within the prescribed budgetary objectives of the department.
• Tasks require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; some planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.

Pay range** **and Other Compensation & Benefits** **:
$84,300.00 - $126,500.00
The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
