Summary This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0100000 and is part of the 151 MXS located in Salt Lake City, with the Utah Air National Guard. Responsibilities Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG-8852-5/8/10, you will: Performs all phases of the repair and reclamation process for crashed or damaged aircraft utilizing lifting bags, cranes, hoists, slings, forklifts, and other heavy equipment. Maintains and stores the special equipment identified and assigned to the crash recovery mission. Serves on the flight control team and may coordinate team functions. Participates in flight crew debriefing, troubleshooting, repairing: and replacing components as required Advises on and participates in the removal. rigging, and replacement of flight control surfaces, portable huffet and lavatory units. Utilizes a wide variety of technical gauges, instruments and tools such as bead breakers, micrometers, dial indicators. pressure gauges, torque wrenches, tensiometers, weight and balance testers, and inside and outside calipers to test. overhaul, rig and install major airframe components. Accomplishes organizational and intermediate level maintenance, which involves major repairs, TCTO's, and/or flight controls, landing years. doors and canopies and associated equipment requiring structural or component maintenance beyond the capabilities of other activities. Performs intermediate level maintenance on aircraft wheel and tires and may also accomplish organizational maintenance such as wheel and tire and brake changes. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as ORI, II: and LIE inspections, mobility, and command support exercises. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Military Rank: Enlisted Compatible Military Assignments: 2AXXX. National Guard Membership is required. Secret security clearance required. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Medical screening will be completed upon selection for hire. Soldiers who accept a technician position may be terminated from the Bonus and Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP). This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Qualifications *Your resume must reflect in detail how the duties and responsibilities under each position you have held with each employer meets the below listed general and specialized experience required for the position. **Must include beginning and ending dates of employment stated as MM/YYYY; and total hours worked per week in order to determine part time vs. full time credit. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-05 - Experience in the use of common hand tools in making repetitive mechanical repairs under close supervision. Experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the simpler and routine duties of the trade. WG-08 - Experience in the use of common hand tools to make mechanical repairs. Experience removing and installing aircraft parts, components and accessories with detailed guidance. Experience in following detailed instructions in making routine, reoccurring repairs and modifications to aircraft parts, sub-assemblies and components, e.g. such as jacking and leveling aircraft, installing and adjusting engines, landing gear assemblies, instrument panels, and flight control systems. WG-10 - Experience installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
