    Emerson is currently seeking an Approvals Engineer in Boulder, CO. The individual selected for this position will play a critical role in ensuring that new product designs align with related product safety standards and meet company objectives for safety, quality, cost, schedule, and performance. Additionally, this role will perform sustainment engineering related tasks, create test plans and perform product testing.

    In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

    + Manage the product approval process and ensure the liaison between MMI design teams and certifying agencies.

    + Product certification maintenance through interactions with DEKRA, CSA, UL, and other regulatory agencies.

    + Experience working with global regulatory agencies and auditors.

    + Strong working experience with global product certifications (CSA, NEPSI, TIIS, INMETRO, PESO, Hygienic, Marine, CE Mark, PED, ATEX, IECEx, CRN, Metrology PAC, etc).

    + Interpret design documentation and approval standards. Apply those requirements to process flow products.

    + Create and implement approval test plans.

    + Train, mentor our global team of design and approval engineers.

    + Review and approve Engineering Change Orders, Quick Installation Guides, product manuals, and product labels with respect to approvals requirements.

    + Supporting periodic audits from DNV, CSA, UL and others.

    + Interact with and support new product development teams to ensure that designs are suitable and documented as needed for third party submittals.

    + Provide approvals guidance to Marketing, Sales, and Manufacturing determining the nature, scope and viability of proposed projects.

    + Knowledge in accordance with standards and procedures.

    + Prepare lab test requests, determine test configurations and provide assistance during test implementation. Document lab test results and write test reports.

    + Ensure adequate agency management which includes submitting applications, product test samples, preparation and review of compliance reports.

    + Review customer specs on project orders and note exceptions when needed

    + Support approval compliance at global SSC’s and manufacturing sites.

    + Ensure that appropriate background information such as past designs and governing code requirements have been researched and incorporated into the agency approval effort.

    + Perform necessary intrinsic safe design calculations for the project and ensure that calculations performed by others are accurate.

    + Delegate assignments to team members, communicate status of approval projects to the Project Manager.

    + Prepare approval drawings, documents, and white papers to support product safety approvals.

    + Ensure that effective coordination with other disciplines involved in the project takes place.

    + Actively participate in product safety standards development, working groups, etc.

You effectively communicate in various settings: one-on-one, small and large groups, or among diverse styles and position levels.

    For This Role, You Will Need:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

    + Travel <5%

    + Legal authorization to work in the United States.

    Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

    + ABET-accredited degree

    + Have an interest in industry standards and how they impact product design and development

    + Knowledge of product safety standards (FM, CSA, ATEX, IECEx) is desirable

    + 8+ years relevant approvals engineering experience, including at least two years project management experience. Proven ability to organize and lead product approvals projects.

    Our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during our annual merit review process. The salary range for this role is $81,600-151,500 annually, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role.
