Under general supervision of the Supervisor an employee in this position takes the lead role and coordinates, performs and directs other licensed Plant Maintenance Engineer (PME) personnel in performing skilled installation, alteration, replacement, maintenance and repair of facility HVAC (heating ventilating/air conditioning) apparatus and equipment. The PME Lead at direction of the Supervisor distributes and balances work, provides guidance and oversight to staff on installation and code requirements. Motivates PME staff sufficiently to direct them toward safe and timely completion of assigned projects. This classification of PME Lead differs from the Building Maintenance Supervisor 1 (BMS-1) as the PME Lead does not have supervisor authority. PME Lead provides ongoing lead work direction, under direct supervision of the BMS-1, to three (3) PME personnel at Camp Ripley.This individual is also responsible for performing related work as required for the operation, maintenance, repair, modification, alterations, replacement and installation of all HVAC equipment and all types of HVAC systems including but not limited to boilers, furnaces, water heaters, air handlers, air conditioners, chillers, geo-thermal, Aaon units etc.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Ability to prioritize, plan, schedule, assign, direct and evaluate/review work
+ Ability to read and understand construction documents, plans, maps and project specifications
+ Demonstrate communication and human relation skills sufficient to lead co-workers effectively
+ Instruct, train and ensure that co-workers follow proper safety procedures
+ Ability to communicate well with co-workers in both written and verbal communications
+ Ability to lead effectively, while working on multiple projects in a high paced environment
+ Ability to safely operate assigned equipment to include but not limited to scissor lifts, fork trucks, articulating boom lifts, etc.
+ Ability to safely use assigned power and hand tools
+ Ability to perform physically demanding work such as digging by hand, working at heights and within confined spaces through all weather conditions
+ Ability to complete required background investigation to be granted network access
+ Ability to self-motivate, work independently and maintain a positive work attitude
+ Ability to be available to service HVAC systems for occasional after-hour problems
+ Experience in using Microsoft Office; Word, Excel Outlook and other computer software programs
+ Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License
+ Must be able to obtain and maintain a military Common Access Card
+ **Thorough knowledge of current National and MN State Mechanical and Fuel Gas Code**
+ **Minimum of a Minnesota Special Engineer’s License**
+ **Minimum of a Universal Refrigerant Usage Certificate**
+ **Ability to effectively lead, motivate and direct employees in a positive manner**
+ **Ability to deal with co-worker issues and solve effectively through conflict resolution skills**
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Computerized Building Automation System (BAS).
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform repetitive motions with various types of equipment and tools on a regular basis. Requires occasionally lifting articles of 80 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects such as heavy tools and toolboxes. This job can require daily walking or standing, for prolonged periods of time. This job can also require daily working outside in all inclement weather conditions. Some equipment operation may involve extended periods of time with pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls. Ability to work in confined spaces with limited room to maneuver. Ability to work at heights from ladders and aerial lifts with potential heights of 60 ft. or higher.
