Are you excited about driving high-visibility, strategic analytics solutions to streamline Amazon's capacity planning? NACP - Analytics & Science is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to lead data science and forecasting initiatives in partnership with Data Engineers, BIEs, Supply Chain leaders, and Engineers. Our mission is to simplify analytics with innovative data science/AI products.
This role is for a motivated individual with a strong statistical and technical background to join us as a Data Scientist. You will be responsible for leading best-in-class data science initiatives, including forecasting and utilizing generative AI tools to address supply chain planning bottlenecks and improve Placement and Cost to Serve metrics for Amazon warehouses. You will bring your data science and statistics background to support key capacity planning initiatives. You will continue to raise the bar for creating scalable, efficient, and accurate models utilizing large-scale data sets.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop new forecasting models or improve existing approaches using scalable techniques.
- Extract data for analysis and model development from large, complex datasets to explain demand trends.
- Closely work with engineering teams to build scalable, efficient systems that implement prototypes in production.
- Distill problem definitions from informal business requirements and communicate technical solutions to senior business leaders.
- Drive innovation and best practices in applied research across the Amazon research science community.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 2+ years of data scientist experience
- 3+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience
- 3+ years of machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, and parameters that affect their performance experience
- Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language
- Experience in a ML or data scientist role with a large technology company

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
