Summary The Food Service Worker Supervisor serves as the primary shift supervisor and will be directly responsible for the supervision of all food service activities and coordinates the activities of the Food Service Workers in the different elements of the Food Service Section. Responsibilities The Food Service Worker Supervisor duties include, but are not limited to: Responsible for efficient overall sanitation throughout all food production service areas. Conducts daily huddles and completes assignment schedules as required. Requisitions all supplies needed for the different areas in food service. Supervises the food service activities to ensure proper work methods are utilized. Monitors and ensures that the proper procedures are communicated and carried out. Oversees work performance of employees, discusses work performance and issues, and provides guidance. Instructs subordinates on difficult work operations. Provides instruction in correct sanitation and cleaning procedures. Carries out the responsibilities of the position within general instructions, standard procedures and established policies. Changes work plans, work assignments and work methods as necessary to reduce or control costs and accomplish the work. Makes recommendations for the purchase of small equipment and supplies to ensure that the appropriate materials are available. Provides individual and/or group instruction for employees in the correct care and maintenance of food service equipment. Ensures that all food supply items required are available for providing meal service. Work Schedule: Hours of operation are 5:00am to 7:30pm, 7 days a week. Incumbent will be selected to work opening shift, mid-shift or closing shift, depending on operational needs at the time of hiring. Stooping, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling movements and moderate lifting are frequent. May frequently lift or move food containers and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds, unassisted and occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 40 pounds with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. Ability to concentrate and be alert is necessary. Work is subject to pressure in completing assignments in accordance with a close time schedule. Working Conditions: Work is normally performed indoors with adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Some work may be performed outdoors where there may be exposed to varying degrees of heat and cold as well as inclement weather. PPE may be required in some circumstance as exposure to possible contagious diseases, blood and bloody secretion are inherent to this position. Care is required to avoid serious injuries (i.e., broken bones) when working on ladders, or when using 30-100-pound power equipment or handling hazardous materials.
