The CUNY SPS Business Office is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Finance Coordinator. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Coordinator will perform essential accounting functions and support multiple business units.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
+ Performs accounting transactions, including daily reconciliations, payment requests, journal entries, and accounts payable processes.
+ Assists with bank reconciliations, financial reports, and accounting transactions.
+ Assists with year-end audits by preparing supporting documentation.
+ Assists with mid-year and year-end closing deliverables, including financial analysis and reconciliations.
+ Assists with special projects and provides financial analysis.
+ Coordinatespurchaserequisitions,paymentrequestsandotherfinancialdocumentstoensureworkflow is timely andaccurate.
+ Coordinates with departments to resolve processing issues in a timelymanner.
+ Ensures adherence to CUNY policies and CUNY SPS’ internal controls and procedures.
NOTE:
• Until further notice, work will be performed in a hybrid manner with 70% onsite presence.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.
The preferred candidate will have the following qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline is highly preferred.
+ Accountingexperience at in higher education, non-profit, or public sector.
+ Experience working within financial management software.
+ Proficiency with all Microsoft Office Programs, particularly Excel (Pivot table, V-Lookup, Macro and formulafunctions).
+ Attentiontodetailandabilitytoworkinafast-pacedenvironmentwhilemanagingmultiplepriorities.
+ Solid understanding of accounting concepts and practice.
+ Strongorganizationalskillswiththeabilitytoestablishpriorities,managemultipledemands and meetdeadlines.
+ Ability to work independently and take initiative as well as working collaboratively in a demanding, and complex workenvironment.
+ Strong oral, written, interpersonal communication and customer serviceskills.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Performs financial analysis and administrative work related to College or unit accounting.
- Prepares, reconciles and distributes expenditure and related accounting reports
- Creates and maintains various spreadsheets related to financial analysis
- Processes and tracks transactional entries
- Provides support in the administration of various business operations
- Coordinates with various departments on accounting matters
- Monitors systems and operations to assure a smooth workflow
- Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary commensurate with education and experience between $62,689 - $68,245.
CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/2026, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
