Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Biller/Collections Specialist to join our team in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. This long-term contract position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, focusing on post-acute care facilities such as nursing homes, rehab hospitals, and assisted living centers. The role involves managing insurance billing, following up on outstanding claims, and addressing denials and appeals to ensure timely reimbursement.
Responsibilities:
• Process and submit insurance claims accurately and efficiently across various payers, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance providers.
• Conduct follow-ups on accounts or claims that are over 30 days overdue to secure timely payments.
• Handle appeals and denials by investigating issues, preparing documentation, and communicating with insurance companies.
• Monitor trends in claim denials and provide insights to management for strategic improvements.
• Manage billing for accounts related to post-acute care facilities, ensuring compliance with regulations and payer requirements.
• Utilize accounting and medical billing software systems to track accounts receivable and maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate closely with team members in a small office environment to ensure smooth workflows and respectful communication.
• Communicate effectively with insurance providers and healthcare facilities to resolve billing disputes.
• Assist in analyzing accounts receivable data to identify discrepancies and improve collection processes.
• Maintain knowledge of medical billing codes and payer-specific requirements to ensure accurate submissions. Requirements • Proven experience in medical billing and collections, preferably in post-acute care settings.
• Familiarity with insurance processes for Medicare, Medicaid, and private providers such as United Healthcare and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
• Proficiency in using medical billing software like Allscripts, Cerner Technologies, and Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE).
• Strong understanding of accounts receivable management and billing functions.
• Ability to handle appeals and denials with attention to detail and persistence.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with insurance companies and healthcare teams.
• Ability to identify trends in claim denials and suggest actionable solutions.
• Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing codes.
