Basic Job Functions:
The Automation Engineer manages the availability and performance of Process Control Equipment to improve quality, increase production, and reduce downtime. Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Supporting and troubleshooting Process Control infrastructure, networks, and applications
+ Developing, maintaining, and enhancing process software and human-machine interface (HMI) applications
+ · Administering/maintaining Process Control application, license servers, software licenses, maintenance, support contracts, and design of process databases
+ Developing reports and analyzing data to identify opportunities for efficiency, quality, and product development improvements
+ Providing 24/7 support for manufacturing systems and processes
+ Staying current with advances in automation, computer technology, and steel production methods

Minimum Qualifications:
• Associate degree with major computer technology emphasis or three years PC/Network maintenance experience.
• Experience with high-level programming languages and database systems (e.g., C++, C#, SQL)
• Proficiency in PL/SQL and a solid grasp of database design principles
• Working knowledge of virtual machine systems
• Demonstrated ability to support and troubleshoot control systems in a manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline
• Hands-on involvement in process improvement and optimization initiatives within manufacturing settings
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical processes in industrial environments
• Foundational knowledge of web development and production reporting tools
• Experience with version control systems and communication/networking technologies
