The Davenport Community School District is an EEO/AA employer.Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)• Participate in IEP meetings, Student employment meetings, Project SEARCH Steering Committee, Employee Meetings, annual reviews, parent conferences, and faculty meetings. Plan and coordinator Business advisory committees (BAC)• Implement student IEPs utilizing teaching methods, materials, and adaptations appropriate to meet individual student needs• Instruct students on employability skills such as i.e., communication, problem solving, teamwork, grooming, budgeting and self-advocacy.• Collaborate with team members to develop and modify goals & objectives on student IEPs. Ensure that goals/objectives are outcome based, longitudinal, measurable, and when appropriate aligned with the Iowa Core Learning Standards.• Monitor and record daily attendance at work sites; teach students to independently inform departments of absences/tardiness.• Demonstrate a consistent method of assessing student growth via the use of clear criteria that is congruent with student goals. Collect and summarize performance data on an ongoing basis.• Coordinate travel training (when appropriate) through public transportation or teach students to be able to access private transportation independently.• Develop work portfolios for each student to include credentialing of skills attained, letters of recommendation from internship sites, etc.• Develop linkages among other agencies to assure effective transition from school to work or from current placement to successful community employment.• Coordinate internal job placement opportunities within the host business and resulting accommodations, and necessary job supports for students.• Develop job development training plan with consumers and appropriate support personnel.• Plan and implement progress meetings for each student participant with appropriate parties.• Coordinate job coach(es) for student internship sites and competitive placements• Communicate regularly with business liaison and job coach(es) for student progress and issues.• Knowledgeable of Project SEARCH model fidelity.• Reports necessary repairs to host business liaison(s).• Keeps adequate supplies available to function efficiently.• Follows DCSD, host business, and IVRS procedures in regard to money, petty cash, purchase orders, professional meeting requests, mileage, etc. Displays knowledge of and complies policies and procedures.• Adheres to and promotes safety standards (i.e. fire, tornado, accident reports, etc.) and acts on the legal responsibilities concerning the safety and welfare of the students.• Keeps files and reporting (i.e. PAR reporting, and IVRS requirements) up to date with all appropriate forms and information; follows guidelines in file organization, consumer input, confidentiality, etc.• Participates in professional growth activities such as conferences, in-services, etc. as deemed necessary by supervisor or designee• Assist with public relation activities to promote the Project SEARCH program/ assist with and attend any open houses to market the program to both community and students.• Identify internship sites within host business(es); work with job site business liaison to perform specific job analysis and task analysis to provide a variety of work experiences to build marketable, competitive skills leading to employment.• Assist with the selection and interview process of identifying appropriate students with disabilities for Project SEARCH program ages 18-21—last year of high school• Conduct intake meetings to assess participant’s general needs and employment goals, career interests, and personal job preferences to match and determine appropriate department internship placement and individual learning styles - Attend job orientation with the participant and clarify information with the participant as necessary.• Learn the internship duties and makes appropriate accommodations, adaptations, or modifications (label cabinets, simplify written instructions, etc...) necessary to the successful independent completion of the job on behalf of the participant at work sites.• Provides individualized job coaching by use of systematic instruction to the participant.• Communicate with all Project SEARCH staff regarding any issues that may affect students participating in the program.• Attend host site orientation; be familiar with and adhere to and promote the standards of the host business as well as the safety standards and procedures; be a positive role model to students in following these standards.• Maintain appropriate and professional demeanor towards co-workers, visitors, students, supervisors, and all others you have contact with while working with Project SEARCH program.• Knowledge, training, and capability of effectively de-escalating aggressive students and implement personal restraint if necessary.• Ability to participate in and direct extensive physical activities.• Other duties as assigned.Physical Requirements of Position:(HBV ?Yes ? Special Qualification Desired:(Personal Qualities, Education, Skills Needed, Experience, Etc.) • B.A. or B.S. degree in Education.• Cross-cultural experience preferred.• At least five (5) years of special education teaching experience desired.• Special education certification in one of the following areas required in grades 9-12: Strategist 1 Mild/Moderate or equivalent; Strategist 2: Behavior Disorders/Learning Disabilities; or Instructional Strategist II: Intellectual Disabilities
