Job Description
The role of a Quality Control Laboratory Technician involves testing various incoming raw materials and products using laboratory procedures. The technician retains samples of raw materials and finished goods, maintaining appropriate inventory and documentation. Additionally, the role involves maintaining quality control equipment, including calibrations and cleanliness, and recommending new lab equipment. The position assists chemists with product development experiments and reporting.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct evaluations in the lab to respond to technical service inquiries and resolve application problems.
+ Provide technical assistance in the field by visiting job sites for start-up inspections or problem resolutions.
+ Assist the Sales Department by providing technical recommendations for products and application procedures via phone calls.
+ Ensure the quality of finished goods and incoming raw materials through thorough testing.
+ Support development projects with product experimentation and accurate reporting.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in quality control, chemistry, and laboratory techniques.
+ Research analysis and troubleshooting capabilities.
+ Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting 50 lb. objects and working with raw materials.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Customer relations skills and ability to address technical inquiries effectively.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Ability to learn laboratory techniques and industry-specific terminology.
+ Mechanically inclined with skill and initiative in using tools and equipment in a lab setting or construction site.
Work Environment
The technician will primarily work on the floor supporting the testing of raw materials in a manufacturing facility, which may be dusty and dirty. The work environment consists of a small team, with approximately 26 people on-site, fostering close collaboration. The position will involve travel for technical inquiries and application problem resolutions, with potential visits to customer sites once a quarter.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $24.00/hr.
