Job Title: Saw Operator

Job Description

The Saw Operator will work in a non-climate controlled environment, using band saws and metal saws to cut metals, primarily aviation grade, to order specifications. The operator will also be responsible for moving materials with a forklift.

Responsibilities

+ Operate one or more saws in the service center with expertise.

+ Process orders according to customer cut-to-size specifications.

+ Ensure timely and accurate order processing.

+ Pull and stage material for processing.

+ Retrieve material from plate racks using a fork truck.

+ Measure material to exact specifications and enter data into the computer.

+ Safely operate cranes, fork trucks, and apply safe rigging techniques.

+ Assist in packaging, receiving shipments, and weekly inventory cycle counts.

+ Use precision tools such as tape measures, micrometers, nibblers, and calipers.

+ Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.

+ Adhere to safety rules, regulations, and quality standards.

+ Follow company policies and procedures.

Essential Skills

+ High school diploma or equivalent.

+ Two or more years of experience or training with saws and/or machinery.

+ One year of experience in the metals service center industry.

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

+ Strong written and oral communication skills.

+ Good organizational, problem-solving, and time-management abilities.

+ Ability to measure using various tools.

+ Ability to read and calculate numbers and data.

+ Capability to work independently and take direction.

+ Integrity and positive relations with co-workers, customers, and suppliers.

+ Strong work ethic and self-motivation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ One or more years of experience in the metals service center industry is preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment is a comfortable, non-climate controlled warehouse. There are heaters in the winter, and in the summer, doors are opened with large fans circulating the air. The shift options include 2pm-10:30pm and 10pm-6:30am.

This is a Permanent position based out of Wichita, Kansas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37440.00 - $45760.00/yr.
