Job Summary:
Responsible to prepare 3D CAD models and engineering drawings using Creo 3D software, assist engineers in troubleshooting designs and drawings, maintain engineering release and change documentation, manage projects for a team of drafters, and work closely with customers to identify project scope requirements. Job Duties may include but are not limited to: Create or modify 3D models and engineering drawings for use in manufacturing. Verifying 3D models and engineering drawings meet the customers' needs while also adhering to Caterpillar Engineering Standards. Use PLM software for storing CAD files, creating engineering notices, and maintaining Bills of Material. Create engineering notices for all 3D model and engineering drawing changes and creations that adhere to Caterpillar Engineering Standards. Collaborate with engineers and peers to troubleshoot design issues along with 3D models and engineering drawing issues and discrepancies. Work closely with team leader and peers to complete projects in a timely manner to meet customer due dates.
What You Will Do:
+ 3D Modeling/Creation of drawings
+ Assist engineers in troubleshooting design. Teach others in the use of design tools and systems
+ Ensure engineering release and change documentation conforms to established engineering practices and maintains Engineering Services data in corporate Engineering Data Systems
+ Interface daily with customers to provide project updates, identify not project scope requirements, discuss project discrepancies or recommended changes
Education Requirement:
Associate’s (technical) degree in Mechanical Drafting or 4 years of work related experience in lieu of a degree

Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Advanced proficiency in Creo 3D and PLM systems** **, with a strong working knowledge of Caterpillar Engineering Standards and documentation protocols.
Demonstrated leadership in drafting or design teams** **, including experience managing multiple concurrent projects with tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
Hands-on experience in manufacturing (MFG) environments** **, with a clear understanding of how design decisions impact production processes, cost, and operational efficiency.

The location for this position is Rapid City, SD
Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
This position may require up to 10% travel.
Summary Pay Range:
$28.15 - $42.25
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
