The Military Engines organization is seeking an individual to provide technical leadership in the Flight Safety & Investigations Discipline. This Associate Director (P6) position is responsible for the technical development, proficiency, and training related to product and services safety across the Pratt & Whitney (P&W) Military Engines enterprise. This position will require a high degree of collaboration within and outside the organization and background in multiple technical disciplines.
The position requires strong hardware and systems level knowledge of military engines and the ability to work across multiple engine programs within the P&W Military Engines organization. The ideal candidate will have a broad technical background and be comfortable and confident in a diverse team environment multi-tasking with chief engineers, integrated product teams, hardware and systems CSEs, System Design and Component Integration, airframers, and our domestic and foreign military customers/operators. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written) are required. In this position, you will be a key safety advocate for P&W Military Engines.
What You Will Do:
+ Provide Product and Services technical leadership for US domestic and foreign partner countries on all P&W Military Engine operational programs (TF33, F100, F117, F119, F135, & F139 programs) in the 4 key areas of Hazard Identification and Reporting, Internal Safety Reviews, Flight Safety Investigations, and Onsite technical support of aircraft mishap investigations
+ Advance product safety and culture via our Safety Management System (SMS) pillars of Policy, Risk Management, Safety Assurance, and Safety Promotion across P&W and in collaboration with P&WC and industry peers.
+ Define and lead standard work development and sponsor and participate in other group initiatives for continuous improvement processes.
+ Periodic travel to execute and advance safety awareness program lessons learned briefings for pilots and maintainers currently in place for F100 & F135 programs, and to provide technical assistance for aircraft mishap investigations
+ Lead implementation of operational safety processes for new programs entering service.
+ Define, develop and deploy all aspects of safety training including the structure within the Proficiency Manager in order to grow employees’ capabilities and cross training within and outside of MCSS.
Qualifications You Must Have:
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering/technical discipline, business, logistics, operations or other related fields with a minimum of 12+ years of related experience.8+ yrs experience in engine hardware or systems engineering role such as customer support engineering, design engineering, or equivalent. Experience needs to include a working familiarity with engine controls, externals, cold and hot section hardware, mechanical systems (pumps, bearings, gearbox), engine operation and performance, and airframe integration.
+ The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
+ 15% travel.
Qualifications We Prefer:
+ Experience in engine troubleshooting, root cause investigations, fault tree analysis, and risk analysis methods a strong plus.
+ Prior customer interfacing roles and/or supplier interfacing roles or equivalent a strong plus
+ Preferably US Service and/or foreign government customer facing role experience.
+ Strong interpersonal, teamwork, communication, and the ability to work well with multi-disciplinary groups.

The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
