Service Technician I

The Service Technician I is responsible for loading and / or unloading drums and containers from trucks and processing and / or storing hazardous waste materials.

Essential Functions & Requirements:

+ Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times

+ Loads and / or unloads drums and containers from trucks; processes and / or stores hazardous waste materials

+ Weighs and breaks down large containers into smaller containers

+ Completes inspection and mechanical placement of drums on conveyor and completes the manual placement of buckets from pallet to carriage

+ Drives forklift to retrieve drums and containers from storage and operates computer and conveyor

+ Transports / positions trailers and tankers for collection of slag and ash

+ Pumps out containers of liquid

+ Transfers material from tank to tank using a centrifugal pump

+ Maintains a clean work area

+ Completes other duties as assigned .

Education:

+ High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

+ Previous experience operating a fork truck (preferred)

+ HAZWOPER certificate or previous fire-fighting experience (preferred) .

Competencies:

+ Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner

+ Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, background check and drug screen

+ Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator

+ Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs

+ Ability to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed

+ Ability to participate in Emergency Response and Fire Brigade

+ Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role.
