Navigators Re (“NavRe”) is a global, underwriting-driven, specialist reinsurer. Since its start in 2010, NavRe has achieved steady growth, profitability and product diversification. We write assumed treaty reinsurance for Property, Casualty, Professional Liability, Group Life and Benefits (focused in Latin America), Agriculture, Surety, Political Risk and Trade Credit from locations worldwide.

Responsibilities:This role will provide actuarial support for our Latin America P&C and Group Life & Benefits segments. In this position, the individual will collaborate with underwriting, reserving, and claims counterparts to project regional expected profitability, evaluate returns for new accounts, and assess treaty performance. The candidate will also contribute to broader NavRe Actuarial projects and periodically support pricing for other lines of business. This position reports directly to the Lead Actuary for NavRe.

Key responsibilities include:

+ Develop and maintain best-in-class pricing and modeling tools for the business.

+ Implement pricing model parameter updates, reflecting country-specific market and regulatory trends.

+ Identify areas for model enhancement and consolidation.

+ Support pricing for new and renewal business including:

+ Peer review and provide guidance to the team on treaty-level pricing analyses.

+ Work with underwriters to develop timely and accurate pricing recommendations.

+ Properly document pricing decisions, including the evaluation of risk transfer.

+ Regularly evaluate regional/product profitability, identifying over or under performing segments.

+ Conduct pricing audits to assess model usage and recommend solutions to ensure pricing accuracy.

+ Provide guidance and input into the quarterly reserve and annual planning cycles.

Qualifications:

+ 10+ years of Commercial/Reinsurance pricing experience.

+ ACAS/FCAS designation.

+ Experience supporting the Latin America (re)insurance markets.

+ Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese, preferred.

+ Strong technical, analytical and data skills.

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to audiences of various levels and diverse technical backgrounds.

+ Self-motivation, creativity, & project/customer management skills.

+ Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities.

+ BA or BS degree, preferably in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics or related field of study.

Location:

+ This role is eligible for a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement.  Candidates who live near our office locations in Hartford, Stamford, New York City, Morristown, Miami or Chicago will have the expectation of working in an office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).   Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

+ Some travel is required.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$147,440 - $221,160
