What We Want
The Senior Social Media Marketing Specialist, under supervision, is responsible for managing, optimizing, and growing the university’s social media presence on YouTube, an integral storytelling platform in driving Texas A&M’s external trust and demand. They will also coordinate content for executive leadership through various social media platforms. Support social listening and community engagement on all official university social media channels.

Responsibilities
Channel Management and Growth:
+ Manage and grow the university’s YouTube and LinkedIn channels, ensuring a cohesive and professional presence that puts the university’s message in front of new and emergent audiences.
+ Optimize video content for discoverability and performance using YouTube best practices (titles, descriptions, tags, thumbnails, chapters, etc.).
+ Use SEO and SEM tools, as well as Rival IQ, to provide reporting and insights on channel performance and growth opportunities.
+ Act as the subject matter expert for YouTube within the social media team, advising leadership on trends and platform innovations that the university should leverage.
+ Lead strategy planning for deciding which content is delivered to YouTube and when content placement will be most effective.
Content Creation and Production:
+ Assist with development and creative direction for high-quality video content in both long-form and short-form formats.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between video content and overall marketing objectives.
+ Atomize long-form video content into short form content pieces such as clips for strategic placement on X, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram.
+ Capture live video content at campus events and other key university moments, ensuring an authentic and engaging narrative.
+ Develop and curate engaging content for executive-level channels, including text, images, videos, and other multimedia formats, to drive community interaction and brand awareness.
+ Collaborate with other social media team members to plan and execute campaigns that align with overall marketing strategies and goals.
Analytics and Reporting:
+ Track and analyze key performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of community engagement efforts and provide regular reports to director and associate director.
+ Identify areas of performance growth using all available data and metrics
Community Engagement and Social Listening:
+ Analyze online conversations about the university through social media listening.
+ Identify trends in YouTube content placement for the university.
+ Respond to customer inquiries, comments, and messages in a timely and professional manner, providing exceptional customer service and support.
+ Stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends, tools, and best practices to ensure our community engagement and social listening strategies remain effective.
+ Alert university and division leadership on any/all issues that need awareness or response.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Five years of communications, public relations, and/or marketing experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Strong written and oral communications skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to successfully manage projects.
+ Ability to work professionally and harmoniously in a service-oriented position.
+ Self-motivation and ability to manage time efficiently, as well as make quick decisions, with minimal supervision.
+ Critical thinking skills.
+ Ability to collaborate successfully with internal and external teams.
+ Proficiency/mastery with social media channels and emerging social media trends.
+ Proven ability to create content specifically for social media communication.
+ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
