Join our team at the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital! We're seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician II to join our team in the Dentistry department. In this role, you'll assist the professional staff in the treatment of animals admitted to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital and help to maintain a sanitary and functionally well-organized service. Minimum Qualifications
+ Associate or Bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science or related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Two years technical experience in veterinary medicine
The well-qualified candidate will also possess
+ Two years’ experience in a veterinary dental medical setting
+ Licensed Veterinary Technician certification
+ Computer skills in word processing, spread sheets, and billing entry
What you need to know
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.
Schedule: This position may require working alternate shifts, holidays, weekends or “on-call” duty.
Please Note: Persons in this position are considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc., and are therefore required to report to work and remain on duty unless/until relieved by the direct supervisor.

Responsibilities
+ Patient Care: Provides clinical support to faculty veterinarians in the delivery and instruction of dental procedures, diagnostic services, and zoonotic disease control. Administers medication. Maintains complete and accurate medical records. Collects, prepares, and submits clinical pathology samples. Collects patient medical history and performs or assists in patient medical evaluation.
+ Instruction and Technical Support: Assists in instruction and induction of general anesthesia prior to and during surgery, fluid administration, and replacement therapy. Instructs veterinary students in proper clinical technique for supporting Dentistry.
+ Monitor/Record Data and Maintain Service Area: Provides clinical service support by maintaining a supply inventory and replenishing stock within the assigned service, performs maintenance service checks and minor repairs to assigned equipment, entering charges for services and materials, maintaining a clean/sanitary and functionally organized clinical service area, and assisting, as necessary, in clinical research trials to include comprehensive literature searches and data collation.
