Amazon’s Automated Marketing and Experiences (AME) Technology team is building the Internet's largest-scale Search Marketing systems. Our team is responsible for a number of algorithms that automatically generate, target, measure, and optimize tens of millions of search engine and social media ad placements that drive a significant portion of Amazon's business. The ad placements include Text ads, Product image based Shopping Ads and Video Ads. We routinely solve challenges related to large scale distributed systems and web services. We manage a continuously growing portfolio of advertisements while maximizing returns through bidding efficiency and discovery of new keywords, products and revenue opportunities. State of the art technology and algorithms including statistical modeling, Generative AI, machine learning, and data mining are the core of our business. Search Marketing drives a large portion of Amazon’s traffic and business, and represents a unique opportunity to drive impact on the company’s bottom line. We also focus on developing novel technology that integrates with advertising products and services provided by external partners such as Google, Bing and Pinterest to measure efficacy of our marketing campaigns. With essentially full ownership of our own product road map, there is a large R&D component to our work, and strong engineering skills together with sound business understanding and an appetite for innovation are highly valued.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for passionate Sr. Technical Program Managers (TPMs) to work with our bright ML scientists and engineers to build best-in-class advertising and Marketing technology, including LLM aided marketing content generation to power Amazon ads. This is a highly visible role that requires substantial business acumen as well as technical depth and ability to work with variety of external partners including technical and product teams from Google, Bing, Yahoo and Pinterest. What will you be doing?
As a Sr Technical Program Manager, you will be responsible for scoping and delivering large end-to-end ML-related projects and real time internet scale web services. You will collaborate with internal Amazon teams and external industry partners from Google, Bing, Pinterest etc. to understand the current systems, influence their product roadmap by proposing new solutions for Search Marketing programs. You will communicate findings and results to senior leadership. You will ensure our team of engineers and scientists work efficiently to solve the most challenging problems for Amazon, and help deliver machine learning models to solve the optimization problems. You will help shape and drive the roadmap for the org.

Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities include :
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g., ML scientists, engineers, Marketing and product managers, etc.) to define business and technical requirements to architect and execute best-in-class software solutions in agile manner.
- Work with variety of external partners including technical and product teams from advertisers such as Google, Bing, Pinterest, Yahoo to shape the roadmap of digital advertising products including automated API integrations.
- Communicate project status, data analysis and mathematical results to a broad audience including senior management.
- Superior verbal and written communication and presentation skills, ability to convey rigorous technical concepts and considerations to non-experts
- Clarify ambiguities along the road. Define delivery scope, timeline, roadmap, and milestones clearly and properly.
- Estimate project impact and development effort. Make appropriate trade-offs to optimize return-on-investment and make the best use of resources.
- Proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and roadblocks. Initiate technical deep dives and/or organize working sessions to solve problems and mitigate risks.
A day in the life
As a Sr Technical Program Manager, you will utilize your program management skill to drive cross functional initiatives related to Amazon's digital marketing technology. You will be responsible for scoping and delivering large end-to-end ML-related projects and real time internet scale web services. You will collaborate with internal Amazon teams and external industry partners from Google, Bing, Pinterest etc. to understand the current systems, influence their product roadmap by proposing new solutions for Search Marketing programs. You will ensure our team of engineers and scientists work efficiently , mitigate risks to overcome challenges to deliver the right product to improve customer experience. You will help shape and drive the roadmap for the org.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of software development experience
- 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
