    Position Summary:

    Florida Atlantic University's College of Social Work and Criminal Justice is seeking a Director, Advising Services - Boca Raton, FL.

    Summary of Responsibilities:

    + Supervises the college's academic advising staff.

    + Responsible for the overall direction and control of the College Advising Center, which includes program planning, review, and research.

    + Develops and monitors the College Advising Center’s response to Metric requirements, working in conjunction with the College academic units, the Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Enrollment Management, and others.

    + Monitors the overall quality of advising services provided to students through the Center.

    + Assists with the creation of performance benchmarks for staff, monitors performance on a monthly basis, and develops annual evaluations based upon these benchmarks and other metrics within the Center.

    + As lead advisor, the Director also assumes responsibilities for identifying, implementing, and maintaining best practices for the Center's staff and students.

    + Ensures the goals and objectives set by the Dean of the College of Social Work & Criminal Justice (CSWCJ) are communicated and met.

    + Ensures services for CDSI students on any campus where the College has full or partial programs and coordinates all CDSI undergraduate petition processes

    + Represents the College at the University level, advising forums, such as the Advising Directors' Council, and attending and actively participating in University Committees in lieu of the Associate Dean.

    + Plans, directs, and reports academic program areas to appropriate areas within the College and University.

    + Utilizes AI tools to enhance the advising process, including predictive analytics for student success, automated scheduling, and personalized advising recommendations

    + Designs and facilitates effective and comprehensive freshman and transfer orientation information sessions.

    + Represents the College and Dean on system-wide and state committees, as required.

    + Serves as liaison between the College and University committees, such as ADC, Super SWAT, and University Scheduling Committee.

    + Chairing and managing all searches for new hires for the Center.

    + Oversees training of all new hires.

    + Manages ongoing catalog changes for the College.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience required.

    Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

    Experience in academic advising or student services and in a supervisory role.

     

    Degrees in Education, Psychology, Social Work or a related field.

     

    Proven ability to lead and manage a team, including experience in staff development and performance evaluation.

     

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

     

    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective advising strategies.

     

    In-depth understanding of college academic policies, procedures, and degree requirements. Possess a working knowledge of the Appreciative Advising Model.

     

    Familiarity with advising software and student information systems.

     

    Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students and colleagues.

     

    Active participation in professional organizations and continuous learning in the field of academic advising.

    Salary:

    $85,000 per year.
