Property Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our team in Eagan, Minnesota. This role involves managing financial activities for owned properties, including preparing reports, overseeing cash flow, and ensuring accurate accounting practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate accounting and excel in handling complex financial tasks.
Responsibilities:
• Process transactions and maintain financial trial balances and reports for owned properties.
• Prepare consolidated quarterly financial statements and analyze results against prior periods and expectations.
• Monitor and update cash flow projections, coordinating with senior leadership on owner draw decisions.
• Reconcile monthly bank accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Manage monthly rent payments for over 300 locations, including summarizing data from the Prolease system and billing subtenants.
• Update and maintain the Prolease database with current information from landlords and property managers.
• Review and process vendor invoices, ensuring proper approvals and addressing discrepancies as necessary.
• Communicate with independent accountants to support the preparation of federal and multi-state tax returns.
• Oversee bank loan documentation and ensure accurate recording in the general ledger, including construction draw processing when applicable.
• Track and maintain depreciation records for property and equipment, ensuring compliance with current guidelines. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in real estate or property accounting.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Yardi Breeze or MRI.
• Strong knowledge of general accounting principles, including accrual accounting and account coding.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including working with formulas and data analysis.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with auditing processes and maintaining internal accounting controls.
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external accountants.
