    Position Summary:

    A growing financial services company in the lending industry is seeking a Vice President of Accounting to lead its corporate accounting function. This is an ideal opportunity for a Director-level accounting professional from the finance or lending space who is ready to step into an executive leadership role. The position offers broad responsibilities across financial reporting, compliance, team leadership, and strategic process improvement.

    The Role:

    The VP of Accounting will oversee all accounting operations and play a key role in ensuring financial integrity, lender compliance, and operational efficiency. This individual will act as a strategic partner to the CFO, contributing to financial planning and decision-making in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Maintain a deep and thorough understanding of the company's financial reporting framework and general ledger structure.

    + Lead and manage accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.

    + Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to internal and external stakeholders.

    + Oversee daily banking operations and ensure timely and accurate execution of positive pay transactions.

    + Manage monthly and quarterly compliance reporting for senior and mezzanine lenders.

    + Support the annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes in collaboration with FP& A.

    + Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, including independent, state, and local entities.

    + Communicate with lender client analysts and ensure accuracy of financial and operational data provided.

    + Partner with other department leaders to align accounting functions with broader business goals.

    + Lead and develop the accounting team, driving process improvements and enhancing operational efficiency.

    + Assist the CFO with special projects and initiatives focused on scaling financial operations and improving workflows.

    + Perform other leadership duties as required.

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required

    + 10+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

    + Background in the financial services industry, specifically lending or loan accounting, is required.

    + Proven experience managing accounting operations, lender compliance, and financial reporting.

    + Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.

    + Proficiency with accounting systems and banking platforms; ERP experience preferred.

    + Ability to communicate effectively across departments and at all levels of the organization.

    Requirements

    Education/Experience

    BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, CPA, with 5 to 10 years’ experience preferred.

     

    Knowledge of Loan Accounting or experience within a lending environment

     

    Full ownership/experience of financial statements, general ledger accounting and the management, motivation, and mentorship of an accounting team.
