    Job Description Summary

    Southeast Health, a 420-bed regional referral and Level II trauma center in Dothan, Alabama, is seeking an additional General Surgeon to join their team. This group practices a mix of bread and butter surgeries such as hernia repair, cholecystectomy, colon resection, vascular access procedures, as well as some trauma surgery. Dothan offers a short 90-min drive to the Emerald Coast beaches of Florida, a low cost of living, excellent educational facilities, and traditional southern hospitality.

     

    This position addresses physician leadership for all aspects of the clinic. This position is responsible for all services/systems required for an organized, multidisciplinary team approach directed toward the provision of the highest quality patient care. This position addresses the maintenance of established patient care standards and protocols through continuous quality improvement and total quality management activities in the clinic.

    JOB DETAILS

    + Established team of 4 board-certified General Surgeons and 3 APP’s

    + Call shared equally at 1:5

    + Practice at only one location – no travel is required

    + Clinic is located inside of the Doctor’s Building at Southeast Health Medical Center for easy access to OR, ICU, ED, etc.

    + daVinci robot available

    + 24/7 subspecialty support to include Vascular Surgery, Anesthesia, Pulm/Critical Care, etc.

    + Robust IM Hospitalist service provides medical consult support for non-surgical issues

    + Exceptional referral base with strong primary care physician referral sources from several counties.

    + Opportunity to precept Internal Medicine and Transitional Year residents as well as DO medical students.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Completion of a Medical Doctorate (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree

    + Board-eligible or board-certified in General Surgery with the completion or impending completion of an ACGME accredited General Surgery residency program

    + Active Alabama medical license or eligibility to obtain an Alabama medical license
