    Position Summary

    Under general supervision, this position serves as a support to the Grant PUD Cultural Resources department. This position is responsible for handling multiple office and field related cultural resources tasks while maintaining a high level of professionalism. Strong aptitude for research, analytics, and record keeping will be a necessary component.

     

    This position reports to the Traditional Programs Supervisor, Wanapum Interface Supervisor or Archaeology Supervisor and may receive general direction from the District Archaeologist, River Patrol Lead, or a District Curator. The focus of this position is to support identification, protection, and preservation to cultural, archaeological, and natural resources within the Priest Rapids Project so the District may operate in compliance with its FERC License.

    Essential Functions

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:_

    + Patrolling area by various methods, all areas of interest to the District and Wanapum to ensure that actions which may be impacting these areas are identified and managed in an expedient manner.

    + Monitoring of identified historic properties for potential impact, providing documentation on historic properties; and monitoring construction activities.

    + Work may include curation and treatment of archaeological collections.

    + Handles various tasks throughout the day and is able to prioritize and organize efficiently; demonstrates a high attention to detail and is task oriented; participates in research and analytics where needed.

    + May operate a District Vehicle.

    + Demonstrated commitment to Grant PUD’s mission, vision, values, strategic plan and Grant PUD / IBEW Local 77 Code of Excellence. The incumbent should be familiar with these organizational priorities and behave in a way that aligns with these expectations.

    + Understand and adhere to compliance requirements for this position that may include laws, regulations, security guidelines, Grant PUD policies & procedures.

    + Actively participate in all aspects of our safety program, including but not limited to:

    + Following all safety policies and procedures;

    + Alerting supervisors and coworkers to unsafe or hazardous working conditions;

    + Reporting any safety incidents or close calls within 24 hours to your supervisor; and

    + Accepting feedback from supervisors and coworkers regarding your own safety performance.

    **Required Qualifications** (Education and Experience, License, and/or Certification):

    + Enrolled in either a high school or GED program.

    + Must provide proof of and maintain and overall cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher.

    + Must provide proof of and maintain full time student status.

    + A valid driver’s license with no driving restrictions.

    Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    + Knowledge of Cultural Resources law, policies and procedures; department policies and procedures; computer programs; file management; office environment; administrative tasks.

    + Skill in GIS; operating a personal computer and general office equipment; typing and entering data with speed and accuracy; utilizing MS office products; organization and prioritization; interpersonal skills including clear and concise communication both in writing and verbal.

    + Attention to detail.
