    of Businessat Texas State University is seeking applicants for a non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Practice position beginning Spring 2026.

     

    We are interested in applicants who have practical experience in business information systems security, cybersecurity, cybersecurity analytics with the potential to contribute to the department’s research agenda by publishing journal articles, collaborating with faculty, supervising students, creating connections with industry and/or state/federal organizations, and bringing applied research opportunities. Practical experience includes experience in industry/non-profit, research centers, or government organizations. The selected applicant should be able to teach and develop graduate and undergraduate courses in business information system security, cybersecurity, cybersecurity analytics with emphasis on applying quantitative methods to solve business information systems security problems. Additional job duties include service at the department, college, university, and professional levels. Faculty will be required to teach courses at both the San Marcos and Round Rock campuses.

     

    Texas State’s San Marcos campus is located in a growing community along the I-35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio.     The McCoy College of Business fosters an engaged learning community that prepares a diverse student population for successful business careers as responsible global citizens. The College complements these efforts with research that adds to knowledge, provides solutions to business challenges, and contributes to pedagogical advances.

     

    The College is AACSB -accredited, has grown more than 30 percent over the last 10 years, and serves over 4,200 undergraduate and nearly 500 graduate students.

     

    The ISA Department offers a university-wide undergraduate minor in Data Analytics and offers several degree programs, including the Master of Science in Data Analytics and Information Systems, the Bachelor of Business Administration ( BBA ) in Information Systems, and a newly launched BBA in Business Analytics. Additionally, the department contributes to the Master of Business Administration ( MBA ) and Doctor of Business Administration ( DBA ) programs.

     

    This position is subject to the availability of funds.

    Required Qualifications

    + Candidates must have an earned Ph.D., D.B.A or be ABD from an internationally accredited institution in Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Business Information Systems, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. ABD candidates are expected to successfully defend their dissertation by the date of hire.

    + Candidates must be able to meet the AACSB Scholarly Academics qualifications required by the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University.

    + Candidates must possess practical, professional experience in the areas of business information systems security, cybersecurity, or cybersecurity analytics.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Evidence of effective teaching information security, cybersecurity, or cybersecurity analytics courses at the undergraduate level in college.

    + Experience in teaching information security, cybersecurity, or cybersecurity analytics at graduate college level.

    + Industry/business consulting experience in computer networking, information security, or networking/security analytics.

    + Earned or anticipated Ph.D. degree from an AACSB accredited business school with a focus related to business information system security, cybersecurity, cybersecurity analytics.

    + Evidence of effective teaching online, hybrid, or face-to-face courses.

    + Track record/potential for publications in peer-reviewed journals.
