    _About This Role_

     

    This individual will be responsible for mechanical design focused on designing large\-scale assemblies and components to be used on our Operational Simulators and Maintenance Training Devices\. Responsibilities include tactical and strategic planning for the department aligned with business objectives, leadership in the development of new ideas, products, processes and techniques and facilitation of complex projects within boundaries of people, quality, time and value based upon technical review of complex design concepts by technical staff\. The successful manager will provide technical direction and coaching to staff and foster an environment of creative employee engagement\. The candidate should have strong communications, presentation, and interpersonal skills and be comfortable interacting with Executive Leadership, Program Management, customer representatives and other stakeholders\. This position requires that the candidate be a US citizen with or capable of receiving a secret level security clearance\. **_Responsibilities_**

     

    \-Manage and define measurable best practices and design standards for hardware

     

    \-Manage cost accounts, technical and schedule objectives for both “level of effort” support as well as defined projects\.

     

    \-Interface with product development teams, Program Management, Quality Engineering and Operations to achieve objectives\. Effectively communicate with and engage all levels of the organization verbally, in writing and through presentations\.

     

    \-Support proposal activity with timely and accurate estimates\.

     

    \-Manage continuous improvement efforts to optimize for yield and cost improvement as applicable to meet production objectives\.

     

    \-Experience integrating design topologies driven by multi\-physics performance dependencies in the aerodynamic, thermodynamic, structural dynamic, electrical systems, material science and design optimization for mechanical assemblies subjected to severe environments\.

    Qualifications

    _Qualifications_

    \- B\.S\. or M\.S\. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with a minimum 10 years of experience

     

    \-Proven experience leading a team of multidisciplined engineers

     

    \-Experienced and knowledgeable in military \(or other regulated\) production environments and quality systems\.

     

    \-Able to manage projects, develop schedules and project plans, negotiate priorities and secure funding for initiatives\.

     

    \-Able to engage with Operations personnel in Lean and continuous improvement activities\.

     

    \-Exhibits an assertive personality with a strong bias for action with a results\-orientation; tackles tough problems with firm deadlines\. **_How We Care_**
