Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for an IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN)-Title 5, Position Description Number T5240P01 and is part of the WI 115 OSS, Wisconsin Air National Guard. Responsibilities Serves as project leader responsible for developing, assigning, and coordinating duties and projects for systems administrators. Develops, modifies, and tests overall system backup and recovery strategies for all systems. Serves as the senior systems administrator responsible for planning, coordinating, modifying, implementing, and troubleshooting to support customer needs. Plans and schedules the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, and software applications. Troubleshoots problems and implements changes on multiple computer platforms. *** This is NOT an all-inclusive list of duties. *** Requirements Conditions of Employment CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: Incumbent must complete appropriate training and obtain required certifications IAW DoDI 8140 or DOD 8570.01M or applicable governing document(s) for Cyber workforce as an IA Technician Level II within 9 months of employment pending training seat availability. Work may require access to classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance. The incumbent of this position description must have at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment. *Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments. This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. Head of Agency requests to exceed 14 days in a calendar year must be approved in advance by the National Guard, Director of Manpower and Personnel (NGB-J1). Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. May be subject to furlough actions. Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare eligibility. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-2210-12 level, you must have one year equivalent to at least next lower grade level. Experience developing, modifying, and testing overall system backup and recovery strategies. Able to develop, assign, and coordinate projects for systems administrators. Experience developing, modifying, and tests overall system backup and recovery strategies for systems. Candidate can install, configure and test hardware and software associated with multiple operating systems and computer platforms. Experience planning, coordinating, modifying, implementing and troubleshooting to support customer needs. Capable of troubleshooting problems and implementing changes on multiple computer platforms. Candidate is knowledgeable on diagnosing system failures to isolate source of problems between equipment, system software and application programs. Experience implementing operating system releases and maintaining the operational status of systems. Education Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
