PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) VP Enterprise Operational Risk Management at our Tysons, Virginia location. The primary purpose of this job is to collaborate with cross-functional risk partners to enhance our risk management programs, including risk inventory, assessment, monitoring, loss event tracking and reporting, and stress scenario design and loss estimation. This position will play a key role in standing up the Operational Risk Management Council/Forum and engaging key stakeholders across the three lines of defense. The individual will be responsible for developing and presenting enterprise operational risk materials at various management and Board Level committees.

+ Lead cross-functional efforts to design and implement a comprehensive enterprise-wide operational risk framework and strategies
+ Partner with key stakeholders across three lines of defense to ensure that operational risks across business lines are identified, assessed, monitored and mitigated in alignment with our Board-approved risk appetite
+ Establish and facilitate risk governance forums, including Operational Risk Council/Forum and provide regular updates to senior management
+ Develop enterprise operational risk dashboards and enhance key risk indicators (KRIs) to capture key operational loss categories
+ Work with business lines to evaluate the existing incident tracking practices and establish the enterprise-wide operational incident tracking method and process
+ Engage in response and communication strategies for material operational risk incidents
+ Develop and implement operational stress scenario design, analysis and loss estimation approach
+ Enhance the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) system to support operational risk management
+ Provide effective challenges to controls testing and monitor performance of the operational risk management activities by business units.
+ Develop and enhance policies, standards and procedures
+ Promote a strong risk culture and operational resilience mindset across the firm
+ Lead audit and regulatory engagement for matters related to operational risk management programs

Qualifications
Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Business, or a related field.
+ Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience in enterprise risk management, operational risk management, financial risk management, governance, compliance, or audit in the financial industry.
+ Minimum of five (5) years of direct management experience.
+ Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in a director role.
+ Professional experience with applying COSO standards for internal control and risk management.
+ Experience creating policies and procedures codifying best risk management practices.
+ Capital planning and Stress-testing experience.
+ Experience working with a GRC system such as Archer.
+ Ability to think strategically and analytically, solve problems, and manage multiple, concurrent projects is required.
+ Strong self-motivation and ability to bring projects to completion independently.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, including communicating effectively and confidently at all levels, demonstrating emotional intelligence, and applying sound judgment.
+ Proven partnership and problem-solving skills in areas of complexity and change.
+ Strong analytical and quantitative experience preferred.
+ Data management/Data governance experience preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position will supervise employees.
Licenses and Certifications
There are no additional certifications required.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.
*Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.*
Travel
Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may is required.
