    The Radar Mechanical Design Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of some of the most innovative land-based and shipboard radars in the world. This includes phased array radar systems, electronic modules, pedestals, and power and cooling systems. The department comprises individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support.

     

    The Radar Mechanical Design Department is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to serve as the SPY-6 Above Deck Equipment Array Hardware Lead. The SPY-6 Raytheon franchise program is in full rate production and delivers next generation S-Band radars to defeat advanced threats. The Array hardware lead will be responsible for hardware being produced on the Array production line and along with being agile to address any hardware, quality, or supplier concerns with the Array Product both in the factory and in the field. The lead will also be responsible for directing and providing guidance to four sub-leads for each of the SPY-6 Array Variants (V1-V4).

     

    This position is onsite in Marlborough, MA or Tewksbury, MA.

    What You Will Do:

    + Lead a cross functional team including members from Engineering, Operations, Integrated Supply Chain, and Quality through production, issue resolution, and cost reduction initiatives for SPY-6 Array Hardware

    + Support Array IPT Lead with EVMS, Program planning, budgeting, and Risk & Opportunity Management pertaining to Array Hardware

    + Management of Engineering production support while simultaneously balancing resulting performance with the ability to meet the customers’ critical schedule requirements across SPY-6 Contracts

    + Regular review of program status including metrics tracking and review by both Engineering Leadership and Program Leadership

    + Extensive knowledge of hardware engineering capabilities to ensure successful technical execution.

    + Partner with the chief engineers, IPT leads, technical leads, operations leads, and Mission Assurance is required

    + Provides technical conscience, challenged with making sure the product and process meet appropriate standards and requirements

    + Ensure balance with risk conditions and constraints while advising leadership

    + Train sub-leads for each variant with focus on increasing bench-strength. Be Visible and accountable for technical decisions of team of hardware engineers

    + Coordinate root cause / corrective action (RCCA) investigations of fielded Array mechanical hardware issues, including leading development of engineering change proposal (ECP) and supporting manufacturing data package (MDP) changes

    + Support Lifecycle Engineering (LCE) efforts on Design Agent contract, including release and maintenance of interactive technical manuals (IETMs), execution of FRACAS and reliability growth efforts and development of training artifacts

    + Consult on technical road map development by assessing feasibility and impact assessment of proposed technical insertion opportunities

    + The position requires frequent interaction with all levels of Raytheon Management

    + Periodic interaction with USG customer’s technical and quality leadership, as well as regular customer briefings at management reviews and Technical Interchange meetings

    + Travel domestically in support of Array Hardware activities, with frequent travel between the Marlborough, Tewksbury and Andover facilities

    Qualifications You Must Have:

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced degree and 7 years of relevant experience

    + Experience leading or participating in design and development engineering reviews.

    + Experience with leadership or front line lead positions

    + Knowledge of earned value management or other program management skills

    + Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

    Qualifications We Prefer:

    + 8+ years participating in leadership positions

    + Advanced degree in Engineering discipline

    + Raytheon Technologies process improvement ie CORE/ Six Sigma Certification

    + Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written

    + Collaborate in teams or independently, flexible, demonstrates initiative

    + Experience in driving Cost Reduction Initiatives and partnering with Suppliers in reducing costs and or driving quick closure to issues

    + Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

     

    The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

     

    RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

     

    This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
