The Otis Service Center (OSC) Crate Shop department is seeking an individual to fill a Woodworking Technician position. The Woodworking Technician will build and repair crates and wood packaging for storing parts and/or to ship components and elevator systems domestically and internationally. This position is also responsible for some maintenance activities at the site.

On a typical day you will:

Following all EH&S and safety policies and procedures, including working safely with all tools- i.e. woodworking tools

Building and repairing crates

Reading standard measurement tools; primarily tape measure

Moving crates using a Powered Industrial Vehicle/Forklift (PIV)

Performing other duties as assigned, including some facility maintenance like hanging pictures, bringing company vehicles for service, etc.

What you will need to be successful:

+ Physical Demand:

+ Ability to lift 50 lbs. If an item weighs more than 50 lbs., employee must ask for assistance in lifting and/or use the appropriate crane, forklift or other lifting devises

+ Walking, balancing, climbing, standing, twisting/turning, bending/stooping, crawling, crouching, kneeling/squatting, sitting, reaching above shoulder height, reaching forward, lifting (maximum 50 pounds), carrying, pushing/pulling, handling, feeling, digital dexterity, wrist flexion/extension, power grip, working speed, talking, hearing, seeing (with color vision) depth perception

+ Must be able to wear/use the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.Education:

+ Must have a High School diploma or equivalent

Requirements:

+ Safety mindset including the ability to follow all safety policies and procedures.

+ Candidate must be able to adhere to assigned work schedule, including start time and annual inventory.

+ Experience either crating or other comparable wood working.

+ Familiarity with a variety of saws and woodworking tools.

+ Powered industrial forklift experience is a plus.

+ Must have a valid driver’s license.

+ Ability to work independently to complete assigned tasks.
