SUMMARY
The Benefits Compliance Analyst supports the administration and compliance of retirement and welfare benefit plans, ensuring alignment with federal, state, and local regulations. This role partners with internal teams and external vendors to audit benefit programs, maintain regulatory documentation, and prepare government filings. With a strong focus on ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and SECURE 2.0 compliance, this role is key in driving process improvements, educating stakeholders, and safeguarding the integrity of Subaru's benefits programs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Assists with the daily management of all qualified and non-qualified retirement and welfare benefit plans. Ensures that regulatory compliance and proper documentation requirements are met for fulfilling internal and external policy and procedure requirements.
+ Assists Benefits Compliance Manager with designing and executing audit procedures of benefit programs and processes to ensure compliance and to identify and implement process improvements.
+ Partners closely with internal and external teams to monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to employee benefits, including the Employment Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), and the SECURE 2.0 Act. Conducts research and resolves compliance issues as needed.
+ Maintains up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and industry best practices, providing education and updates to Human Resources (HR) team members and other stakeholders as necessary.
+ Assists with the design and execution of communication and education strategies related to retirement plans and programs. Works with vendors to plan monthly educational sessions for the benefit of plan participants.
+ Prepares and files required reports and documentation with government agencies related to retirement and health and welfare plans, such as Form 5500, Form 720, Form 990, and Form 990T.
+ Calculates, verifies, and funds quarterly and annual payments to pension and non-qualified plans for eligible participants.
+ Analyzes transactional data as needed for reviewing higher complexity annual plan reports according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Assists with the documentation of standard operating procedures and policies related to qualified and non-qualified plans.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
+ Knowledge in retirement systems administration and management.
+ Experience in investment lineups and asset allocation across a variety of plans.
+ Knowledge of legal and procedural requirements regarding employee retirement programs.
+ Strong knowledge of federal regulations related to employee benefits.
+ Experience with regulatory filings for audits, particularly Form 5500 (Relius experience a plus).
+ Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
+ Certification in benefits or HR compliance (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist [CEBS], Senior Professional in Human Resources [SPHR], and/or Qualified 401(k) Administrator [QKA]), Preferred
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 4-Year College Degree (BA, BS) and 4-6 years' experience. H.S. Diploma and equivalent experience in lieu of a degree required
WORK ENVIORNMENT
+ Hybrid Role: Remote work 2 days per week (After 90 Days Onboarding)
+ Travel: 10%
COMPENSATION: The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $70000 - $110,000 / year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. (Internal Job Grade: P2)
