    On-the-job training program which involves rotating through various Rooms departments within the hotel. Rooms J-1 Management Trainee will perform a variety of job roles and responsibilities to be able to demonstrate working knowledge of all aspects of operating and managing a hospitality operation. Rooms J-1 Management Trainee will also learn systems, tools, resources and philosophies of IHG. In some areas, the Rooms J-1 Management Trainee will focus/concentrate in one particular area/department. Upon completion of all three phases the Rooms J-1 Management Trainee will be able to demonstrate the skills necessary to manage any Hotel operating department and begin their career as a future leader.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Complete a 4 Phase program inclusive of a 3-month rotation of each Phase

    + Demonstrate ability to apply academic theory to the job situation through practical application

    + Follow all rules of protocol for area of training

    + Accept responsibility for professional conduct as indicated by courtesy and consideration of those encountered in the work environment, promptness in keeping appoints, completing assigned task, and positive attitude toward all activities required by the job situation

    + Exemplify ethical professional behavior evidence by positive working relationships with all personnel, moral actions, and attention to confidentiality requirements

    + Participate effectively in group problem-solving processes demonstrated by direct involvement

    + Transfer academic theory to the practical job situation, recognizing strengths and areas of improvement of the academic preparation

    + Demonstrate creativity in theory application during the program

    + Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with others

    + May assist in developing and implementing business plans and processes

    + May serve as Manager on Duty” as required

    + Reading and writing abilities are utilized often

    + Basic math skills are used frequently

    + Varied shifts will be required including nights, weekends, and/or holidays

    ACCOUNTABILITY:

    This job is responsibility for performing tasks related to areas of focus/rotations professionally and consistent to the Management Code of Conduct. May involved supervisory and management of staff and/or processes and procedures.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree or Masters in Hotel Management or Hospitality Management. Must speak fluent English, Other language preferred.

    This job requires ability to perform the following:

    + Frequent standing up or moving within and outside of the facility

    + Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 25 pounds

    + Handling objects

    Other:

    + Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with others; demonstrated ability to interact with guests, employees and third parties that reflects highly on the hotel, the brand and the Company

    + Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when completing paperwork and management reports, interpreting results, giving and receiving instruction, and training

    + Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances are utilized frequently

    + Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities are used often

    + Ability to travel to attend workshops, tradeshows, conventions, etc.

    + May require a valid Driver’s License

    + May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays

     

    The salary for this role is $41,600.
