The Center for Global Development, an independent, non-partisan economic research
organization in Washington, DC, is seeking a Senior Policy Analyst and Assistant Director to support CGD’s research on US development policy and the organization’s educational engagement with Congress, the Executive Branch, and the development community. This position will help the organization manage relationships with external stakeholders, author timely commentary and briefing materials, produce relevant analytical products, and organize public and private convenings.
Responsibilities include:
+ Lead outreach and educational efforts, connecting with select institutions, policymakers, and their staff in consultation with the Director
+ Conduct independent research and analysis, author policy briefs, blogs, and papers in collaboration with CGD Fellows and other staff
+ Track policy developments and cultivate opportunities to strengthen policy analysis and outreach across CGD’s areas of focus
+ Organize events, working groups, and private meetings related to CGD’s research programs, including setting agendas and preparing presentations and materials
+ Support planning, budgeting, coordination, and execution of initiatives related to US Development Policy, collaborating with the Director in planning strategic initiatives and goals
+ Contribute to the mobilization of financial resources to support the Center’s work and the drafting of communications and reports to funders and supporters
+ Supervise and mentor associate staff as required
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:
+ A bachelor’s degree in economics, development, political science, public policy, or a related field and at least five years of relevant experience, ideally with several years of experience in a US development agency. All relevant experience should be in political, economic, or public policy analysis related to international development.
+ Strong knowledge and experience of working with US government and institutions.
+ Demonstrated leadership and management experience.
+ Familiarity with CGD’s research and policy engagement as it pertains to US development policy.
+ Excellent written and spoken English.
+ Outstanding organization skills and attention to detail; proven ability to advance projects with hands-off supervision while being accountable for the accuracy of outputs.
+ Record of commentary on development policy topics.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with senior officials and other VIPs.
+ Master’s degree in a relevant field is a plus but not a requirement.
This is a 1-year fix-term position with the posibility of extension.

Salary range: $98,800 to $110,000. Pay commensurate with education, skillset, and experience.

The organization is working hybrid with all staff required to be in the office at least two days per week. CGD is registered to employ staff living in DC, Maryland, or Virginia. Candidates must be able to live and work in one of these locations to be considered.
