This Principal HRBP role provides HR leadership for the Region Services organization, which is part of our broader Utility Computing org within Amazon Web Services (AWS). Region Services is responsible for two key functions integral to the AWS business: 1/ Execution of AWS’ Global Region Expansion (to include new Regions, Availability Zones, and Local Zones), and 2/ Ownership of Amazon Dedicated Cloud. In this role, you will support builders who are dedicated to bringing cloud services to customers across the globe, from commercial start-ups to national security organizations.

     

    As a Principal HRBP, you will be a key member of the Region Services/ADC HR leadership team, providing direct support to Region Services Directors and their organizations. You'll need to deeply understand our business and technology strategy, looking across the full system spanning both AWS and Amazon to proactively identify opportunities to accelerate and de-risk the business.

     

    Success in this role requires exceptional business acumen combined with the ability to forge strong, trusting relationships with business leaders. You'll help leaders unlock their potential while developing pathways for future leadership talent. Your experience in executive coaching, coupled with exemplary communication skills and strategic thinking, will enable you to influence at all levels of the organization.

     

    The role demands someone who can navigate complexity and ambiguity while delivering practical solutions. You'll drive organizational design initiatives, lead talent strategy development, and implement innovative HR solutions that scale globally. Your ability to balance competing priorities and facilitate optimal decisions for both employees and the business will be crucial in our rapidly evolving environment.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Partner with senior leaders and their leadership teams to develop the talent strategy needed to support our growth, and build a work environment where employees can thrive and grow.

    • Work closely with specialist central HR teams (i.e., Compensation), as well as matrixed site and international HR colleagues; you’ll also keep the right focus on assessing the HR needs in areas such as performance management, workforce planning, talent acquisition, career development, diversity and compensation/rewards.

    • Function as a consultant and counselor to key leaders and their respective organizations; engage in strategic planning meetings to translate business needs into HR plans.

    • Partner with the business on organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and skills assessment and development.

    • Review and analyze business metrics including data on retention and employee experience in order to recommend systemic improvements.

    • Partner with the business to lead Talent Reviews, which focuses on succession planning, talent development and organizational health priorities.

    • Provide compensation support including salary planning, approval of salary actions, promotions and job re-leveling.

    • Work with line managers and employees to address various employee relations issues, fairly representing all interests.

    • Partner with the AWS talent acquisition team to build systemic and scalable recruiting programs to create a sustainable pipeline of talent.

    • Able to travel domestically and internationally, as appropriate

    This is a unique HR team, comprised of HRBPs, specialists, and business operations in order to provide holistic HR support to a niche employee population. We are tightly integrated with our end customer and work backwards from their mission to deliver cloud services across the globe.     Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience • 10+ years of experience in an HR Business Partner leadership role, preferably in a high tech environment supporting large businesses • 5+ years experience working with global teams, driving organizational change initiatives, and developing talent management plans for a global organization

     

    This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Master’s degree in Human Resources or MBA • Global HR experience • Proven ability to diagnose issues, drawing on both professional experience and strategic thinking skills, and drive appropriate solutions with self-initiative • Strong business acumen and ability to work well across different functions in order to integrate HR and business strategies • Strong analytical skills, including the understanding of metrics to support plans and monitor performance • Excellent written and verbal communication; high quality document preparation and presentation skills; strong facilitation skills • Exceptional listening skills and ability to relate to, influence, and coach employees of all levels in the organization • Experience in coaching senior leaders and managers, and strong talent assessment skills • Ability to work independently, as well as an active member of both business and HR teams • Resilient and able to thrive in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment with a high level of ambiguity

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $230,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
