    Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a **Tool Design Engineering Manager 2,** to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Tooling organization. This leadership role will be located in **El Segundo, CA** but will ultimately be relocated to **Moss Point, MS** **.**

     

    In this leadership role you will provide tooling solutions and support of special tooling for all sections and projects of the aircraft build as well as other site Cleared programs as needed & other NG special/classified projects for multiple sectors. Our team designs industrial machinery and equipment, tools, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, and machine attachments required for production or experimental use, considering such factors as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements. The manager will work closely with other functional groups to effectively resolve issues in production build processes for new and reworked tooling solutions in a fast passed work environment.

    Essential Functions:

    + This manager will lead 10-15 Tool Design Engineers, Integration Engineers and Analysts.

    + Manage a team of Tooling Engineers on the Design Team that designs industrial machinery and equipment, tools, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, and machine attachments required for production or experimental use, considering such factors as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements.

    + Develop and maintain a diversely engaged, talented workforce through coaching, cross training, and mentorships.

    + Oversee and provide accountability for proposals, estimating, authoring, design, fabrication, and closing Tooling Statements of Work (TSOW).

    + Provide technical oversight for both onsite and offsite tool fabrication and for tooling integration into production line.

    + Manage all Tooling estimates and proposals that are requested of Moss Point Site Tooling Design, Integration & Fabrication operations.

    + Support and assist Quality/Property/DCMA in annual audit briefings, conduct NGC/DCMA contractor self-assessment audits.

    + Provide organizational metrics (Quality, Cost, Schedule & Technical scope) using Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.

    + Responsible for managing Tool Engineering performance to established direct & indirect budgets for both material and labor accounts per EVM practices across multiple tooling departments.

    + Maintain departmental compliance within established policies and procedures for site and sector requirements.

    + Manages a segment of a program or a function. Responsible for providing objective-oriented direction to subordinates utilizing mgmt. guidelines & general policies.

    + Manager responsibilities include: planning and program performance addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of a work package, subsystem, or related group of work packages.

    Basic Qualifications

    + Bachelor's degree with 5 years' engineering experience or a Master's degree with 3 years' engineering experience.

    + Experience in tool design engineering, metrology, manufacturing engineering and/or relevant experience.

    + 2 years of experience leading teams or projects.

    + Experience in manufacturing/production environment.

    + Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Aircraft production/manufacturing experience.

    + Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field.

    + Earned Value Management (EVM) experience.

    + MS Office experience including Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.

    + Experience in CAD, Catia, Solidworks, and/or NX and/or other design software.

    + Experience with 3D printing.

    + Active DoD Secret clearance or higher and in scope Program Access.

    + Experience in managing supply chain.

    + Control Account Manager (CAM) certified.

    Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00

     

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

     

    Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
